Real World: You may not always agree with your bosses point of view, but you have to deal with it because he's got more power than you. Same thing that is going on when you disagree with your professor. You are learning a very important lesson in life. Can I sue my boss because I disagree with his ideas on how to manage a data center?

So the right is getting as stupid as the left in academia? Summer's flogging at Harvard was the equivalent of this proposal don't you think?

no, and please explain how. please explain how a private citizen attempting to open dialogue on a subject, though perhaps in appropriate and found to be offensive by some, is equivalent to the government creating a new law that would allow one citizen to sue another for saying something that they dont like when it is neither libel or slander. Please explain how this incredible assault on First Ammendment rights is equivalent.

If your saying politicians are often duplicitious - I'll agree with you. But to claim that Republicans have the market cornered on duplicity (or stupidity) is just not very accurate....

My point was that both sides of the political spectrum have demonstrated intolerance for the free exchange of ideas... not just the idiot GOPer who came up with this stupid bill.

I agree that both sides are guilty of duplicity. The difference I see is that while the left can be smug and condescending regarding conservative thought. The right on the other hand has declared a culture war and everyone not in agreement is immoral.Unlike the democrats they have a propensity for punishing those they disagree with and show little regard for their constitutional rights. They take it farther than the left by abusing their majority to ram their "values" down everyones throats through legislation and try to stifle the first amendment rights of dissenters. They show much less regard, in my opinion, for the constitution than democrats.
