The issue is very important because unlike the Congress, individuals do look up to those that are in the Major Leagues and just like in Bodybuilding steroids are illegal for a reason...

Methamphetamines tear down the body, I have no experience with steroids to be blatantly honest...but from the witnesses' testimony and the tests provided it seems that steroids do provide an edge...don't believe me look at Ken Griffey Jr. this year ... I'm not one to gossip so I'm only going to say this once!

Your answer appears to be that people look up to major league athletes....

"People" don't in general but kids may. And if our basis for Congressional action is the admiration of children....look out Sesame Street and Barney
parental responsibility...steroids are bad son........

When Iw as young I looked up to pro skatboarders, snowboarders, extreme sports nuts, and musicians. Does this mean that congress needs to start mandating drug testing for Musicians and skaters?

so what are you saying that congress should worry about other things because it annoys some players or insults there reputation of perhaps because it is not congress' right to mandate these tests or to regulate something because they never did...or because they have more important things to worry about...

Fuck that goddamn right it's time to think about the kids...or are you like congress passing all kinds of shit that we have to fix later...what kind of world do you want to live in...

I know this started off with steroids but our government would rather worry about wars, defecits, social security, then the kids... its all about the kids in this instance and I agree that congress should step in...the link between injecting one thing and then doing the same thing with another drug is highly congruent

to agree with you would go against my stance if I misinterpreted what you said I'm sorry but I don't believe that I did!

Irrelevant...look at the choices that you provided and then condensed to two...

How many Skaters and Musicians do you know that didn't...

let me guess the Beatles, Elvis, Rick James, Jimi Hendrix and Tony Hawk has probably never smoked weed in his life..

This is about an America's Pastime not skateboarding and musicians...the two examples do not add up to the number that followers the other...(majority vs. minority) and it would behoove congress especially as a precedent to other sports to make an action, but I honestly don't know the extent to which they stepped in!

I see your point, but I hope that there are a lot more parents that share your opinion about you teaching your kids instead of congress...and I really think that they should assist in this issue...

Congress to me seems to concentrate on things that affect mostly adults and maybe the adults should pass the informtion down to the kids, but apparently everyone isn't so open minded as we are and available to be proper parents...

It's of a public interest and they (Congress) won't have to waste any money helping out with this situation...

Congress should assist to expediate...eventhough you might think it's a little much...

Did you play baseball as a kid?

you see i played baseball too, a lot, and I wasn't terrible...

I made the all star team I'd say 80% of the time that I spent in little league and shit, but by the time I got to high school I wasn't affiliated with the coach or the little parental politics that existed..

(some) Parents want those kids to do what is necessary to make the team to make it to the big leagues to make their parents proud and FUCKING RICH...

I think sometimes like in this case it is appropiate for congress to act...some parents don't think the same way I do or you would...they think this little fucker better make something on theirselves!

and one more thing...

if you have a law or a committee in place to prevent those from using steroids and the laws are taught to the kids it might matter, or you might spend 4.6 Billion a minute trying to prevent those from hurting themselves (Drugs)!

If I get hired on somewhere I am required to take a drug test. What makes baseball players different from me besides the millions to swing a bat at a ball, and the sleepy look on their faces.

I didn't say that we needed the government to help raise and rear our children, but it does become necessary for the congress to get involved with some issues that might directly affect kids and in this case I'm referring to those of the high school age...

true one of the fundamental rights that we have is to raise our kids the way we see fit, but yet the problem is that most of the time when I was a kid (speaking honestly) I spent more time talking to my teachers...they are the ones that I spent most of my time with, then daycare and sooner or later I was watching my brothers as a latchkey kid...you sleep about 8 hours you go to school about 8 hours and then you do whatever with the rest and most of that wasn't talking to my parents about the issues...

and I'm not saying that was wrong because that's what had to happen...I had to be my brother's keeper until my parents got off work...Though if the kids are paying attention to what's on the news and if they see that our government is getting involved and that the ioc or whatever committee is testing for this and other enhancers then they are more likely not to do them...

true, there are laws against drugs and that didn't stop me, but this is there future career and the career concurrently of others...

There's a big difference between steroid use and telling someone how to raise their kids...they are just trying to get a little control of the steroid abuse (in basketball and the olympics as well)...the whole parenting issue is for another sunday!

Cuz they still have a union. Unions are ok if the rank and file are millionaires, its those lazy, greedy labor unions that are bad.

True dat. The common man can't join the rank and file of the truly "free" american. By being truly "free" i mean rich enough to buy justice if need be.
