instead of just doing a lot of talking follow with some action. If you would actually like to help out an organization that is doing some good and is getting results take a little time to donate time or money to help them out. This is the same group that pushed the recent medical case all the way to the supreme court. https://secure.mpp.org/donate/ann_index.php?ref=15

I heard the story today about how the Supreme Court is making even the medicinal marijuana subject to the same laws as illegal marijuana i dont know how i feel about the subject, but i definitely feel sorry for those who have been prescribed it by a doctor |

well it is just what was already in the books its really not that big a deal...the state and local police still cant arrest you its just if the dea wants to make a big deal out of it than they can raid your ass...but it would seem that they should have better things to do than bust potheads that are gonna die

BTW, I'm not necessarily pro-pot as I am anti-Jail. It makes a mockery of our justice system to be wasting court time and jail space on people possessing marijuana and ruining their lives.

All the supreme court did was reaffirm that federal laws trump state laws in matters of interstate commerce. The real blame for the illegality of the drug lie with the Bush administration and Congress.

Is there really a good reason it shouldn't be legal?

I think it's all a big joke. Do these morons think that because they make it harder to buy/smoke pot, that the people suffering are just going to go along with it and stop smoking? No. Thye are still going to find ways to grow/buy their pot. They are in pain and suffering and the government isn't going to sway their opinion of, or results from smoking weed. Hell, I have smoked for 18 years, and I'm not in pain or sick at all. I think those people suffering will have alot more drive to get their pot than I do. |

hmmm. you must be smokin the wrong way. I don't stink... I never had stains on my teeth except when I smoked cigarettes, and I personally have never had a problem with being addicted. I've stopped smoking many times for various periods ranging from 2 days, to a year. I didn't have any physical withdrawls, so the 'addictive' aspect is still up for debate in my mind. I am pretty sure it all depends on the personality.

I think they should ban all pot coming from croppers in Mexico. That means tightening the border security, which we need anyway. Reason I say this about their marijuana is because it is poor quality. It is thrown on the ground and watered. Hence the brown, sickly, skinny herbs that look like oregano and give you the worst headache imaginable. No medical benefits. In fact, it's a strong argument that pot coming from down there can make you sicker. Whatever it is, a sick person should not put it into his or her lungs if it comes from there. I think docs should be able to recommend it as an alternate remedy without risk of losing their license, since the buds on the plant have been proven to alleviate symptoms in sick people. They are beneficial if used the right way. Insurance companies don't have to cover it, and I don't believe companies should sell seed packets at the local gardening store, but if you want to order a strain of something online or from a grower, I think it should not be a crime to find it as a doctor-prescribed alternate remedy. Ideally it would be great to have it among our everyday legal things, but I'm trying to be realistic here. There are side effects, as with many prescription pills, if the recommended dosage is exceeded, but no one dies from smoking too much. Side effects hit people differently...you've got people that just feel a little tired during the day maybe, but they can still work all day and crunch numbers or whatever. And then you've got the people that refuse to work and sit around all day and watch crap TV who are pot smokers. Take away their pot and I'm sure they would keep holding down the couch, so the herb really can't be blamed. Maybe, but no research has proved it. The anti-jail theory mentioned earlier hits the nail on the head. As far as the stop talking and start doing idea...we've signed many petitions and written letters to legislature about it...and all we got was a letter from the office of Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison stating that marijuana would never be legal as long as she was in office. It's great to support the organizations that have enough pulling power to take it to the top, but so far this year it has failed, and it will most likely fail again unless more of us get out and vote in our state and local elections. Its been common knowledge for a long time that if you don't like the policy, change the players. Not enough people participate in this part of strategy.
