This drives me nuts.

Nothing can ever be debated for the facts because we are all so caught up in debating not only FROM our political end of the spectrum, but we feel the need to frame it in such as way as to be AGAINST the "other side." Linear thought processes have destroyed debate. Everything is black or white, conservative or liberal, republican or democrat. It's ridiculous.

Why can't things be argued for the sake of legitmate argument without the framework? Why can't we all be on the same side looking for a solution?

I think a big part of the problem is the partisan influence of the media. The media presents issues within a partisan framework, and the people who pay attention to the media repeat what they hear. An example is the way debates happen on this board. People post very politically biased articles and then the entire "discussion" is mostly just the person who posted the article defending it against the other side who jump all over it.

Nail, hammer, head. Being a "parrot" serves no purpose unless it is your own internal belief as well. It is best to pray that you have one leg better to stand on than your peg-legged master.
