It's ironic that the same people who have been complaining the loudest about the "PC Left" for last decade are now the very people using their political influence to promote a new wave of PC stupidity. Conservatives, especially evangelical Christians, now dictate what is "appropriate" and what is not. Anything that does not fit with their notion of "righteous" is now intolerable - any mention of the word "gay" is "offensive" and "agenda-driven." These spineless Americans seem to think that everyone and everything is out to get them and their children and that we should all change our behavior to satisfy their sheltered lives. They're now even taking it to the point of calling for "corporate balance" because Starbucks printed a quote from a gay write on a freakin' coffee cup. If the term "corporate balance" doesn't conjure up memories of the NOW speeches circa 1995, then I don't know what will.

Apparently these people don't pay much attention to history. You see, people don't like being told how to act and think by uppity do-gooders who live on another planet. This is precisely what caused the mainstream American backlash toward the left-wing nuts who told us how to speak and think for a decade and who are largely to blame (or credit) for this country's shift toward the Right. I predict that these gutless right-wing PC crusaders will tip the balance of thought and political power back in the other direction in the not-too-distant future.

Oh no - that's just one tiny example. It's the complaining about a quote on a cup of coffee, the gripes about "Million Dollar Baby" being a left-wing promotion of euthanasia, the promotion of religious junk science in schools, the mockery of everyone who speaks out against the right-wing agenda as "un-American," the promotion of big government over civil liberties, etc, etc, etc. It's a widely held sentiment that everyone is out to get them - the "libs," the media, the Europeans, the Mexicans, the Arabs, the education system, etc, and that they have a right to force everyone else to change to appease their small, fear-driven minds.
