some or most of these people couldnt drive as they had no car. or they were incapacitated to walk out of there. for that reason, flat bed trucks should have been getting people out of there. nat'l guard backed up by us military should have mobilized to make that a reality. but that obviously didnt happen. which tells me that the govt didnt think this was going to be as bad as others expected. the govt failed us again. i keep going back to the following words that most people wont even recognize: That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. | |

No shit, if I lived in a city 10 or so feet below sea level and knew a big ass hurricane with an equally big ass storm surge was headed my way...staying is not an option. I'm amazed with how many people there are still in the city...I know special situations arise, but how many do they estimate are still there? Do you really think they all didn't have the option to leave in the week or so we knew the storm was headed their way? The government can't do everything for you. Then what really infuriates me, are the ones that ARE FUCKING SHOOTING AT THE HELP...do these fuck heads have a negative IQ or something? I hope the national guard guns their asses down like an Iraqi Insurgent...they're equally dispicable if not worse...and deserve the same treatment. | |

^^^^because they're in a desperate situation. put yourself in their shoes. it's been 4 fucking days. no water, no food. malnourishment and insanity is on onset. i'm not trying to make an excuse but communicate to you the facts. just now, the natl guard and military has rolled through with supplies, food and water for these displaced people. before that, the guard simply drove or flew by....waving. why dont YOU make an excuse for that??!! reports are that nat'l guard was simply driving around. drinking water, not even sweating. walk a mile bro. i've donated clothing and food that i paid for out of a negative $200+ account. what the fuck have YOU done? |

I agree that the outcome here has been deplorable, but I dont put Bush at the top of the list of people to blame. The Mayor of NO has left his city in shambles, his constituants dieing of dehydration after they followed his instructions. The LA and NO officials should have had the national guard in before the storm to get these people out. I see the failure here as great, but there are many politicians in LA that have completely dropped the ball here, even though I know its real easy to shift all your anger over with your already acrude hatred towards Bush. I think Bush underestimated the tragedy like everyone else did, but the local officials elected by the dieing people in NO have the blood on their hands. Now they will try to shift blame onto Bush like many others, when they are the ones that failed their own people. It is very sad. | |
