You want to get rid of the impoverished, feed the starving, and create a new workforce all at once? Raise poor children like livestock and pay their parents for raising them.

I see what his statement means and while the spirit behind it may not have been right, the profundity is its marker.

Investigations into "payola" ran rampant during the 40's and 50's. That is nothing new in America. Lobbyists and interest groups (i.e. people with power of the purse) run this nation behind the scenes.

On your second note, one term reps would run us through incompotence quite quickly while ousting reputable people just as fast. You can't win that way, either.

As with any job, it takes a couple of years to get comfortable and good at all the aspects....

oh, and a totally boneheaded statement made by a boneheaded politician. when reading the whole comment, i buy that the comment about the abortion was unintentional, but what gives me pause is that I think that he meant the inference he made about black people being responsible for most crime.... that's not cool.

well, bennett was blasting a book that made the claim "crime rates are down because abortions are up". he took that to its logical conclusion and gave the "you could lower crime rates, abort all black babies" line.

on it's surface, the quote seems to equate "black" with "commits crime," however, the logic in the statement is solid. you could lower the crime rate by aborting all of ANY race's babies. it's just a numbers game. by removing all members of a generation, you would remove the members of that generation who would grow up to commit a crime...regardless of their race. notice what he said next, he calls it "an impossible, ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down."

his mistake was in saying "black". a safter original line might have been, "you could reduce the crime rate by aborting every child." instead, he stirs up some controversy and gets his radio show mentioned in a bajillion web articles.

not saying that was his intention in making the remark, but it will be a nice side-benefit.

This has been the mindset of this country since the good ole days of the "peculiar institution". It's just been heightened due to the massive influx of low income blacks to various cities due to the hurricanes. I was listening to AM 570 when the whole Katrina thing was going on and whatever show was airing , was lamenting the impending downfall of Dallas due to the crack addicts about to "invade" the Dallas area...

These statements aren't from some toothless, tobacco spitting hillbilly Klansman(they also didn't come from white bread SUV driving "middle class" America)...but from a "well-educated" high level Washington politician.

If someone finds his statements shocking needs to have their head examined. This isn't just an isolated incident but if someone starts talking about the destruction that AIDS and the never ending influx of drugs have had on our communities the first words out of their mouths are...tin foil hat(conspiracy theories).

The descruction of the Black race has been discussed (and planned) for years. The Tuskegee Experiment is just one example. The destabilization of Africa is another(do your OWN research before you get on this board trying to tear my views apart).

The destruction of others has been in play for a long time. Power struggles as far back as Biblical times describe oppressors and tyrants that fit this category many times over. It is the position and times that we live in this ten seconds that should help us to break that. People aren't as ignorant or out of touch as our predecessors during even the early part of this century about things of this nature.
