This Miers business

So it seems to be leaking out that she is anti-abortion. Anyone think this is a deliberate ploy to gain GOP support, and will it work?

she an evangelical christian, you tell me what her stance on abortion is? I seriously dont get the far rights beef that she may be too liberal, mabey under qualified, but what we do know about her tells us that she is ultra-conservative when it comes to issues like abortion. I personally think she's too conservative, and compared to Roberts, she's just plan creepy.

i found them both creepy. Roberts looks like a "chester" to me.... Meirs just looks plain scary, but she has an intelligence and an alertness behind her eyes that Roberts does not have.

anyway, she is obviouly under qualified and the christian rights dream, but we will see.....

Ah, I guess I haven't been paying close enough attention. Wasn't she supposed to have supported democrats previously? What anti-abortion evangelical does that?

did you catch any of Roberts confirmation hearings on CSPAN? I thought the man came across highly intelligent, confident, and had his head completely wrapped around the law. Some congressmen would ask him a question, and by the time he was thru with the answer, he made it obvious that compared to his own knowlege of the law, the congressmen hadn't a clue of even the question he asked Roberts. He was schooling the whole room. My simple mind was impressed anyway.

Am I the only one who thought that you had to have some sort of judicial background in order to be on the supreme court?

for what its worth,
many supreme court judges have not, and many democrats asked Bush to pick someone who didn't.
