Don't have to join it but here you go. TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday that Israel should be ``wiped off the map,'' the official IRNA news agency reported. Support for the Palestinian cause is a central pillar of the Islamic Republic which officially refuses to recognize Israel's right to exist. Skip to next paragraph ``Israel must be wiped off the map,'' Ahmadinejad told a conference called ``The World without Zionism,'' attended by some 3,000 conservative students who chanted ``Death to Israel'' and ''Death to America.'' Under reformist President Mohammad Khatami, whose eight-year tenure ended earlier this year, Iran had shown signs of easing its implacable hostility toward Israel. Officials said Tehran might not object to a two-state solution if that was what the Palestinians wanted. But Ahmadinejad, a former member of the hard-line Revolutionary Guards and traditional religious conservative, said there could be no let-up in its hostility to Israel. ``The Islamic world will not let its historic enemy live in its heartland,'' he said. White House Spokesman Scott McClellan said Washington took such remarks seriously. ``It underscores the concerns we have about Iran's nuclear intentions,'' he told reporters. The United States accuses Iran of seeking nuclear arms, but Tehran says it needs atomic fuel only for power stations. Iran has developed ballistic missiles able to hit Israel. Tehran denies accusations it trains and arms Palestinian militant groups, saying it offers only moral support. French Foreign Minister Douste-Blazy said he had summoned Iran's ambassador to explain the comments. ``If thesecomments are true, they are unacceptable. I condemn them with the greatest firmness,'' he said in a statement. Iran's ambassador to Madrid will also be summoned to explain the remarks. ``...Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos has expressed his rejection in the most emphatic terms and has decided to urgently call in the Iranian ambassador to ask him for an explanation,'' the ministry said in a statement. |

Surely they must know that if they create nuclear weapon, the first one they launch at Israel will be answered with a massive nuclear "Fuck You" fron the US.

you have to give him credit. the mans got balls. Here we are threatening them for iraq meddling and for their "nuclear energy" asperations, and he says this! The guy sounds like Saddam of yesteryear. this crazy insures that the future of the Mid East will be eventful. i remember the administration claiming that the iraq conflict would cause other rogue nations to abandon their hostilities and arms programs. looks like that failed as well. since the invasion, N. korea and iran have been burning the midnite oil ! Bush state of the union 2000 claimed that he would never allow the axis of evil to acquire nukes. so far: We attacked the one without any. Korea has produced several warheads and a tung po dong that can reach Socal. and iran is almost to the finish line! way to go bush, dick and colin! |

Here's a short clip from an Israeli F-16 blowing up Saddams Osirak nuclear facility near Baghdad. The video cuts out when it's over the site but in the beginging of the video you can see surface to air missiles being launched at the F-16's and the pilots takes evasive maneuvers. Israel did it once and they will do it again regardless of the consequences. http://www.iafe.net/kur_Attack.mpg |

Well if anything his statement provided us with a WAY EASIER task of securing Iran and gathering the help of the U.N.

The U.N will sanction, the U.S will occupy, Israel will obviously help if absolutely necessary. This will also be a time to see how the muslim world reacts, who will they align themselves with?

I think that the reactors need to be stopped by Iran. If they refuse we should say "ok, fine. After Israel blows them off the map if you retaliate we'll prevent aircraft/missiles/troops from leaving Iranian airspace / territory. Your choice."

I dunno man, Israel striking first could cause the rest of the muslim countries to side with Iran and escalate the tensions in the region. I think the US with the "aid" of the UN will step up as mediators of sorts.

Those States near Israel have tested her quite a few times and are well aware of the consequences of attacking Israel (their armies get wrecked, they lose territory and they are humiliated... again)
