If you want to talk "truth," then don't even utter this garbage about "Iraqi freedom" and what a bad guy Saddam was. I think even the right-wing hacks realized that this wasn't going to erase our intent for war and stopped using it months ago. We've passed the "WMD" phase of the argument, moved right through the "terrorst threat" phase, and the "Iraqi freedom" phase, and are now in the "we're over there for better or for worse and we need to support the troops...oh, and liberals love terrorists" phase. Seriously, though, I had a very interesting conversation with my family recently on this topic. My parents are the rightest of the right-wing, my sister and I are very liberal especially when it comes to this war, and my brother is a veteran who served in Iraq for almost two years. One night after he got home, we all had dinner and my father started in with the "liberal media" cop-out. So my sister started talking about how the war was actually so much worse than the media portrayed it and that they were glamorizing the whole thing to be "patriotic" or whatever. My brother said he thought we were all wrong. He pointed out that while the media do focus more on the bombings than they do the political progress being made, they do not show pictures of the dead children or of the soldiers getting burned alive, and they don't talk about all the military suicides. We get a very "sterile" view of the war over here because noone in the media wants to be labeled "anti-war" even if they are. And they report the bombings more than the political progress because Americans are far more concerned with dead Americans than they are with new governments of what they percieve to be "backward third world tribes." Americans repeat this "Iraqi freedom" stuff because it makes them feel better about the free pass they wrote for Bush to start this war, but most of them know they were wrong and that our call to war was about American security, which has worsened as a result. And the truth is, everyone wants the media to justify their position, which is why the Right think the media is liberal and the Left think the media is the corporate arm of the Bush administration.

I know you oppose the war and you know I support it. But, it connot be denied that Saddam was a real sonovabitch nor can it be claimed in good conscience that the administration wanted to "murder" Americans and Muslims - that's just ridiculous rhetoric willy and beneath you.
