That is a nice little gotcha in Tx law...so stay away from the primary and the runoffs, to be elligable to sign a pettition to get Kinky on the ballot...

I think he's entertaining, but not somebody I would vote for. Nonetheless, I'd like to see him on the ballot.

It prevents one party from being able to vote in their own party's primary and then support a candidate solely for the purpose of draining votes from the opposition. A signature to bring an independent to the ballot is essentially the same as a vote in a primary (or runoff), so to allow people to do both would allow them to vote twice.

Agreed, I have been thinking it would be nice to have a more unconventional person on the ballot, if only to break up the monontiny/spin of the normal political process.
