I don't see why we are pissed that they are using nuclear power...

We want them to be dependent on the US for their Nuclear power, so that we have a trump card in any situation. If you make them dependent, you have something to hold over their heads in, say... a "war on terror"...

then we can threaten and push them to do whatever we want, lest they suffer financial collapse. It's no wonder that they don't want to use Russian or American or British aide.

We've now set precendent for attacking innocent nations preemptively, and cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons. P.S. Iran is at LEAST 20 years from Nuclear weapons capability, and that is with FUNDING, which they don't have. Let them run their own lives and stay the fuck out of their business.

wtf are you talking about? Dependent? Make them dependent on the US for nuclear power? For electricity? They've got huge natural gas and petroleum resources - they don't need nuclear energy as a power source.

Iran has a been in cahoots with Russia on this program for some time - they've even discussed enriching uranium in Russia -

Iran is engaging in its nuclear program in order to gain enough fissile material to build nuclear bombs. That's not really in dispute by anyone who has given the matter and reasonable thought. Iran wants nuclear bombs so it can bomb other states. (Israel and Saudi Arabia) Iran has had prominent politicians advocate blowing Israel off the map even though it would cost Iran millions of lives in retailiation.

Becauase of these things its a pretty bad idea to let such a state come into possession of such weapons.


however, others have argued that a nuclear armed Pakistan and India haven't bombed each other. There's an argument that suggests an nuke arnmed Iran will stabilize the region. Tehran and Tel Aviv can then have their version of the US/USSR Cold War which will result in a good deal of suspicion, arms build-up and risk - but probably a lot more peace as neither side really wishes to get into a MAD scenerio....

It's not even a concern about Israel. I could give a rat's ass about them either as well. However, you can't have countries threatening to exterminate other countries. Kruschev said to the US that he would "bury us" back in the 50s and that lead to decades of more cold war/stockpile buildup/spy games/etc.

And I don't believe Iran will be like Russia and have a cold war. They will use any weapon that they can make available. They have some pretty damn fine reasons for hating America, man. We've taken land that wasn't ours to give... we've handed it off to 3 million jews. and we've displaced MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of Muslims, even though we've been doing it for centuries.

We've made them feel small so many times, that they only have one recourse to preserve dignity... among other reasons to hate America, that is JUST ONE.

Us constantly proclaiming to be a "christian" nation, when we(christians) have been murdering and slaughtering millions upon millions of muslims for centuries, that sure gives them plenty of reasons to wipe us off the face of the earth, if you ask me.

Technically it was a UN mandate (as I seem to recall).

Just a point of fact - the US is only 231 years old. (give or take a few months) We've been a world power since the early 20th Century. And as we tend to identify ourselves as a CHRISTIAN nation, and have taken the side of Israel over a palestinian state in Israel--in short, choosing "gods chosen people" over the interests of 3-4 BILLION people's homeland...

we're talking about a place held sacred for a very long time, just taken by an organization(the UN) which we fund about 75% of... given to a people that are the mortal enemy of the Muslims and their faith... and then we continue our actions--basically belittling muslims again... on top of countless other reasons for them to hate us.
