They are hanging Brown out to dry big time. I would not be surprised at all if 90% of what he is saying is entirely accurate.

i was working for a non-profit during the hurricane. supporting an executive that deals with things on a state level. so starting aug. 30 i worked overtime. actually i worked crazy long hours for almost 6 weeks straight with no time off. not even labor day. now i was in a position to overhear conference calls that included federal types. like 3 or 4 calls a day. and i knew in the back of my mind that we needed to get as much accomplished that first week as possible because of the holiday weekend. i noticed that lots of individuals were so caught up with their holiday plans that they were ready to cut & run on friday. fema & eoc & all us non-profits were there on sat. sun. & labor day. but we were all working with skeleton crews. they offered me the day off & i refused. ppl needed me. i got SO frustrated with ppl cause i kept hearing over & over, we'll have to wait & try to find that solution on tuesday. i mean the skeleton crews accomplished some amazing things to help people, but we were way understaffed for what kind of job it was. i hear these stories now about finger pointing & blame game & i wish someone would admit that at all levels of govt. response we were hindered by a stupid 3 day wknd. refugees (fuk the pc evacuee term) literally WALKED to dallas & houston & east. like they would get to us around wednesday starving & exhausted. it breaks my heart to think that so many feds took their vacations then blamed the ppl that worked their asses off for not doing enuf.

i actually feel bad for browny. he is a total scapegoat. there was no way the gov will let dhs look like they failed their first real test. which they did miserably. All that money spent since 9/11 and they came up real short. but on the bright side they do great in all their exercises! i hope we dont find ourselves in this position but i think dhs will fail again if there's another big terror attack. the white house knew of the levies the night they broke and so did chertoff/dhs. |
