![]() | john mccain lolz from daily show last night
i have always liked mccain, and last night just sealed the deal for me. here's what went down... stewart does a piece on cynthia mckinney where he plays a snippet from her appearance on wolf blitzer's show. in the clip, wolf asks her if she really did in fact assault an officer. her answer begins with, "before you talk to my 2 lawyers, you need to do some investigating into the background..." they pop back to studio where stewart replies, "i'll put down 'yes.'" so they do some more stuff, go to commercial break and when they return, they do a bit about mccain speaking at liberty university. they play a clip of mccain saying (paraphased) "we don't need extremists on either side - farakan & sharpton on the left and robertson & falwell on the right". stewart is "outraged" that mccain - "a good friend of the show" - would then go and speak at falwell's liberty university commencement. so of course they bring the senator up in a live shot. stewart rolls out the lengthy question of how could he do this and mccain's deadpan reply is.... "before you speak to my 2 lawyers, john..." ![]() he even went on to finish the quote with "you need to investigate..." it was awesome. he did a great job with the "issue at hand" too. his explanation was that he is going there to speak to the students not to support falwell or anything like that. it was good. he noted that he also speaks at ivy league schools where he disagrees with their policy of not allowing military recruiters on campus. john |

but you have to admit that McCain is teetering on the edge of being a hypocrite with some of his recent actions... he has been getting hammered about it from several different people. i saw him on Chris Matthew's show the other day and they were discussing it... McCain just showed that he's a good politician who can talk his way out of anything but it doesn't change the facts that he used to speak out against the same people and now he has softened his stance.

Now I can rest assured, when I am detained for thought crimes, I'll only have a broomstick THREATENED to be shoved in my ass--not actually have it done. | |
