Dallas Downtown - Moving West

I really like to see all the new builidings and projects in the works. By this I mean the new hotels, restaurants, and retail activity. However, I wonder how this will bode for East Dallas, and specifically the Greenville Ave area. I've seen it slowly deteriorate over the last 10 years, and things seem to be getting worse. Working on Greenville for the past year has been troublesome at best, and dangerous at worse. Lots more bum activity, and fights, robberies, and shoot outs. Is anything positive going on for that area, or is it only a matter of time before it turns out to be Deep Ellum number 2?

i think its totally funny that ppl pretend "uptown" isn't gaytown. ITS STILL OAKLAWN ppl. couple developers put up some new signs & the yuppies pretend its different.

surprise surprise, gaytown has always had the best restaurants, galleries & bartenders in town.

its just not as big a secret now, well they still mislabeling it. but at least u in the neighborhood.

so the real problem with deep ellum & greenville av. is that they are "entertainment districts" with more entertainment options than retail. which means ppl spend disposable income there, mostly tourists.

criminals go to tourist areas cause they know tourists are an ez hit & they will have money to blow in their pocket. u know they don't stay in the hood, they can get a ride.

so this means the time it will take uptown to have more crime is exactly equivalent to either:

a) how long it takes the crackheads to walk to cole from throckmorton.
b) how long it takes for the crackheads to get a ride from fair park.

i say less than a year. if they smell money they will come. is just life in the city.
