The disclosure by Ehud Olmert, Israel's Prime Minister, that Israel has nuclear weapons confirms the worst-kept secret in geostrategic relations. Although Olmert has since distanced himself from the comments in order to preserve Israel's "ambiguity" strategy the damage is done. The most dystopian outcome could be a new arms race in the Middle East, but the disclosure will further complicate the region's multiple issues and interlocking problems, for the near future at least.

Mordechai Vanunu is an victim of his own circumstance. You help the ones you love and when you fear for ALL of man, the ones you love hate you for opening your heart.

I'd feel more sorry if he didn't create it (his situation) all on his own. I offer up props for at least having conscience enough to tell the world what most already (and now DEFINITELY) know.

phhtt......I thought this was common knowledge but......
Maybe they dont and it was intended to look like he "slipped"
after all the saber rattling from Iran te last few days to maybe get the Iranians wondering if they really do have them. It could possibly be an intended slip to scare the opposition. Who knows.
I just wish they would get on with it.

I doubt it "slipped."

I doubt anyone doubted that they have them.

I doubt this "slip" has any effect on the region. (Accepting rhetoric) Iran won't give up its program and other states aren't going to start them. The West has a great deal of leverage with most states in the region - but not Iran.

I'd wager that Olmert was tell Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to chill the fuck out with the tough talk because Israel isn't developing nukes - it has them.

Its not unlike the Cuban missile crisis only the issue isn't deployment but developement...
