17 year old uncle gives pot to toddler nephews doesnt understand all the fuss

I just saw an interview with the idiot who gave his toddler nephews pot. He doesnt understand why everyone is making such a big deal. "They were gonna smoke it eventually" he says. Also he adds "It's not like i gave them ice. Pot aint gonna kill them."
He says everyone does it and he just made the mistake of filming it. The video apparently came to the attention of the police when it was confiscated from his home. Apparently the police were investigating this pillar of the community for burglery as well. The minor mother of two says she was at home but asleep in the other room after taking a Tylenol for her toothache. Grandmother, whom they live with, was apparently at work.
Two others are up for charges including the 16 year old filmer of the incident and another friend who was also involved. Both of whom also dont understand why they are in trouble because they didnt actually "give" it to the toddlers.
The young mans only regret he says was that he was "too high to realise he shouldnt have been filming it" but apparently has no idea about the harm he put his nephews in, and thinks people should quit "making such a big deal".

I just wonder if there would be so much uproar over this if it was a few sips of beer or a couple tokes off a tobacco cigarette. Pot is an illegal drug so lets place those kids in a foster home where the parents do only the socially acceptable drugs. If people don't have a problem with millions of kids on overly prescribed pharmaceutical drugs like ritalin (an amphetamine), why so much outcry over pot?
