Well at least Texas is the leader in wind energy production. I am in the process of opening a restaurant, and it will be the "greenest" one in the metroplex.

So why isn't Louisiana showing up in the top 5? They have a ton of refineries and it gets just as hot there as it does here(if not worse). Most of the carbon emissions come from the coal plants used by TXU & Co(which doesn't go to other states).

It's pretty simple really. If coal is your main energy source, you produce a lot of carbon. That's the thrust of the report, and it's true.

As a side note, there was legislation that was supposed to go through last week - until the Texas legislature had a walkout over Craddick, I'm not sure if it got passed now - that would roll the panhandle back into the Texas energy infrastructure. For the last few decades they've been part of a group that supplied power to surrounding states & themselves instead of feeding into Texas' state system. If it was passed, expect to see a lot more wind farms pop up in west Texas in the next few years as the transmission lines get built out that way.
