![]() | I just watched Sicko........
Very eye opening movie, its the first non-partisan movie that I have seen from Moore. Its straight to the point and he shows all sides of the argument. He attacks Bush, but then takes equal amount of time to slam Hillary, even shows that Hillary and Bush were paid off with 4X as much money than everyone else in congress was paid off with. The most hard hitting part of this movie was when they were showing stories about people who had health insurance and got sick. Its kind of frightening to see people who have the exact same health insurance that I have filing for bankruptcy and selling their home because of medical bills. I think this is a must see movie for everyone in the united states.

| I don't think it's out yet, or it came out today. There's pirate copies on the net.

I'll wait until a week after it's out when people who actually check facts dissect his movie.

While you can be thousands of dollars in debt from health care, most states have quite a few protections to make sure you don't lose everything because of it as long as you are making payments. example: Me and my wife took our son to the emergency room last year and it came to a $1500 bill. All it took was one call to the hospital to set up a payment plan and they let us pick how much we wanted to pay each month. I'm gonna agree with Johnny and wait for someone to debunk the "facts" because let's face it, Moore is less trustworth than Fox News.

I'm not saying the insurance industry isn't a cauldron of degenerate fucksticks; what I am saying is that Moore has a habit of stretching statistics & taking things out of context to fit his message. Have a reputable source - or better yet, multiple reputable sources - put out a real documentary and I'm all ears. If it's from Moore, I'm less than enthusiastic about the 'facts' he presents.

and i mean..do we really need more facts on the deplorable state health care is currently in. before this movie was even thought of things were messed up and more than likely..after the release of this movie things will STILL be messed up.

Well, I did not have health insurance. I had heart surgery and the only person I had to pay was my surgeon. They even put the $6,000 I owed on a payment plan. Baylor got charity to pay for everything else and I'm sure it was well into the $100,000 or so.

we should be more like..... like who Amazon? There is no "right" to healthcare. Our insurance companies absolutely DO suck. Our quality of health care is the best in the world. Unequal access to that healthcare is what pisses people off. The fact is - high quality healthcare is expensive. Now, its artificially inflated with goddamn administrative costs from the hosptials themselves as a result of insurance companies and plaintiff's attorneys but that just explains why... If we want everyone to have equal access to equal quality healthcare we'll either have to increase costs dramatically or reduce quality. anyway - I'm sure Moore's film is a respectful of the facts as his previous work. | |
