My thing is if they know who these people are..and what they might be up to , arrest them, and detaine them in guantanamo..or whatever.

no, i beleive in secrecy to an extent..and in this case if it REALLY is national security..be secretive, go in and take out the bad guys.

and without this happening the administration has been accused of being secretive..and illegal and generally not giving a damn about counter opinions..so this is all mute isn't it really...

Actually - Patriot w/few exceptions (the library BS) just put into statutory form what was already permissible ni the case law... that and tore down Clinton's wall between FBI and CIA.

Territorially remote but I suspect the politics is the real issue... would you let the US army into your country to kill your people as they saw fit? He's (Musharef) already on shakey ground with his people - that'd probably get him bounced and then killed. But, yes, I think we could do it if we were permitted to do so.

not so sure they do know who they are, where they are etc - even those we do - it might not be the best idea to seize them

now, most of that is there dumb ass fault for being dumbasses. relations with the media soured long ago and the adminstration never cared to try to resurrect them in a way that would permit GW to get out his message and hopefully retain support... so he's got no one to blame for his bad press but GW

Remember those terror alerts and how they seemed to keep popping up about the time another GOP scandal or bad news about Iraq would surface? How many have we had since some of the media started reporting about the timing of those alerts? 0. Speaking of fear-mongering...

p.s. I'm really glad we invaded Iraq, it sure did solve this whole AQ issue way better than finishing the job in Afghanistan ever would have. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to brush my teeth after vomiting in my mouth a little bit.
