Bush Administration Starts Another War

So this is great... first Bush convinces everyone that Iraq is harboring terrorists even though evidence was contrary to this and we invade Iraq without a post-war plan to stabilize the Govt... we all have seen how that has turned out.

Now, he backs up a plan to have Ethiopian rebels to invade Somalia and toss up that Govt without a post-invasion plan to stabilize that Govt and once again that has turned into a big mess. He was touting Somalia as being the third front of the War on Terror because there was some evidence evidently that a couple Govt officials has ties with Al-Queda but there are many experts that say that this evidence was blown out of proportion and that invading the country the way they did was a really stupid fucking idea. Takes a real genius to come to that conclusion... someone needs to take away Bush's ability to start anymore wars.

I hate to break it to you, but American presidents have been involved in stirring that hornet's nest since Clinton & before.

FWIW, Somalia is a hotbed of Muslim extremism. Whether they're AQ or not I couldn't say, but there's a lot of AQ "types" in that country these days.

so forget about whether or not you or anyone else really has any idea of what was going on in Somalia... forget about if there was any real reason why we needed to go invade that country... forget about all of that. if we are going to invade a country or back invaders up with our money, soldiers, weapons, whatever... don't you think we should have a plan? you could say that Al-Queda was formed because they wanted to seek revenge on the Western world because of what we did to them... and yet we just continue on doing it. How is this ever going to stop if we just continue invading countries without any real plan except just go in and cause some shit? Now they have an insurgency going on in Somalia just like they do in Iraq and the Middle East.... what did any of this solve?

The stuff I've read say maybe there was a handful or people in the Somalia govt that were aiding terrorism or involved in some way... a handful, that's it. That's no reason to go invade a country and stir up shit and leave the Govt in pieces. What should've been done is once we got firm evidence that someone did something then we go arrest that person... or shit, take up Edwin's advice and just assassinate them if that's what you want to do... just don't go invade the fucking country and cause the problems that are currently happening.

If it wasn't Bush, who was it? You think Clinton who isn't in office gave the go ahead? You think maybe 8 years ago Clinton said, "ya know, in 2008 I want you all to invade Somalia... and then blame it on Bush"??

Ethopian troops invaded Somalia, they drove out a taliban style gov't and we sent in special ops type groups to do search and destroy missions to capture/kill escaping taliban types... and had some big warships anchored off the coast... launched some airstrikes etc... old news

Anyway, it was a blip last January. I got into it here with Krash a bit about it iirc.
