ORT WORTH, Texas — A father sodomized his 18-year-old stepson to avenge the teenager's alleged rape of the man's 8-year-old daughter, police said.

The father, 32, turned himself into to authorities on Friday and was released from jail Saturday after posting a $17,500 bond. He faces a charge of aggravated sexual assault.

The stepson was arrested Jan. 2 and charged with suspicion of aggravated sexual assault. Police say the father caught him assaulting his daughter, and a subsequent examination at a hospital revealed the girl had been sodomized.

Sgt. Cheryl Johnson, supervisor of the Fort Worth sex crimes unit, said in a story posted Saturday on the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Web site that people need to "allow the criminal justice system to work for them."

"This is a very unique case, but we have a criminal justice system in place, and no one can take the law into their own hands," Johnson said.

The Star-Telegram didn't identify the father or the stepson to protect the identity of the girl. Fort Worth police didn't immediately return phone and e-mail messages from The Associated Press.

When the stepson was arrested, the man warned his wife not to get the teenager out of jail. She posted bond for the teen's release. When he called home Jan. 3 after getting released, the father took the call and picked him up, police said.

Instead of taking the teenager home, the Arlington man drove to an abandoned house in Fort Worth, beat his stepson with a baseball bat and sodomized him with a metal tool, police said.

After the man left, the stepson found a pay phone and called police, who searched the abandoned home.

"We did find evidence at the scene to corroborate our victim's story," Johnson said.

He didn't kill the guy over the destruction of his daughter's innocence so that's good by my book, but yet it was a vigilante act. We can't have everyone trying to be Batman.

The son definitely will think twice before even engaging in the thought of that ever again.

For sodomizing an 8 year old girl? He'd spend more than a few years in jail, and have to register as a sex offender for life. That seems like more than equitable punishment to me.

As a parent, I understand where the father was coming from, but for him to do anything but let the police handle it is to do a grave disservice to his family. Now, instead of being there for his little girl, he's going to do some time himself for assault, and probably have to register as a sex offender, seeing as he was involved in a homosexual rape. Revenge may feel good, but it's generally not the best course of action in the long run.

and being registered does nothing but have you registered

i have close to 15 registered offenders within a 10 mile radius from me... what the hell does that do!?!? I know they are there... but they dont have to wear t-shirts when they are in public...... being registered doesn't tie up your hands and keep you away from my kid

I think we should do like biblical times and put all the ass pirates in one city together, and all the people that do payday cash advances in another. They can rape each other, finacially too. Then we turn them to salt, or maybe that's a different story.

I'm against the government letting criminals walk free if they pay money. The question here though is was the punishment an abuse of a parental roll? They guy didn't butt rape him for his own pleasure. He did mean to teach a lesson.

we are all jaded. we read the news. its is disgusting what selfish, arrogant people do to kids. so sad.

i think we should brand them like frikkin cattle or the scarlet letter. i'd REALLY prefer that perverts who seek non-consensual sex be surgically castrated so they will be permanently impotent. but branding them would work until then.

Branding them puts a mark on them. Branding some one doesn't prevent them from moving, finding kids, and fucking them. It would not be a useful preventative measure.

Um... we're talking about a rapist. So, why would a brand change anything? The rapist doesn't give a shit if the victim consents. The existence or lack of a brand will have no impact on a victim's consent.

There's gonna be little trouble proving he hurt the kid. He beat him with a baseball bat. Still, if he's smart he'll go to jury where people like me would never vote guilty for a father making sure his daughter doesn't ge abused by this worm again.

What? The police can generally ONLY act after the fact. If not then you really do have a police state. We have a Bill of Rights which essentially limits police action to after the fact action only...
