Do you vote for the party, or for the candidate?

If you always vote for the best candidate, then doesn't that make you an independant?

Lastly, if you always vote for the best candidate..... have you ever voted for different parties? or have your candidates always been in the same party?

I have always (tried to) vote for the best candidate, they are almost always republican, and sometimes indipendant.... but I have never been compelled to vote democrat. I dont have an issue with the party.... just never liked any people that represent it.
It really sucks, because I am a moderate, so many of the issues i really care about are pushed by the democratic agenda, and shot down by the republican agenda.

I vote on the issues. Of course, most of the time, that means I vote Democratic. If there was a Republican who had stances I agreed with, I'd have no problem voting for them, and sometimes do in statewide races with multiple Reps and no Dems.

3rd party or straight ticket dem. I always go for a liberal platform. Republicans obviously never embody that.

Candidate -- Usually Republican or Lib, however, I have voted for Sam Nunn and Zell Miller when I lived in Atlanta.
