![]() | Obama has won the last 8 contests now
Senator Barack Obama rolled to victory by large margins in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia on Tuesday, extending his winning streak over Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to eight Democratic nominating contests. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/13/us...html?th&emc=th Delegate Counts: http://politics.nytimes.com/election...tes/index.html Obama could pull this off... somewhere, Edwin is upset.

| She'd have to win them by a very wide margin, like 60-something percent to 30-something percent according to what I've read. It's possible, but she hasn't really been pulling those kinds of margins so far. Given that he's steadily been increasing his numbers in every demographic, I'd be getting nervous right about now if I were Hillary.

She can probably win Texas by a large margin, but she will have a lot harder time doing that in Ohio... right now she needs to try to steal some of his super delegates, and focus on those two states. She doesn't stand a chance in many others. With McCain wrapped up as the nominee, I am sure some Republicans will actually go vote for Clinton because she is easier to run against than Obama. Don't know how much a difference that will make, but she will win, it just is a matter of how wide the margin of victory is.

| I think Texas is going to be very interesting. We have a large black population, which will vote almost exclusively for Obama. We also have a large hispanic population, which so far has been voting almost exclusively for Clinton. If Obama gets his act together, he'll start trying to make some headway amongst Latino voters in the next few weeks. I think the white male vote will go to Obama by a wide margin and the white female vote will be split down the middle. She could win it if she brings out enough of the older crowd, but I don't see it being by the wide margin she needs. Of course, everyone knows if she doesn't pull it off she'll just start crying about MI and FL again.

1. We'll see. So far the margins Obama's beating her by have been a lot more significant than the margins she's beaten him by in the few states that she has. 2. Highly unlikely. You have to concede that Obama has been winning by much, much higher margins in the states he's won than she has in the states she's won. We're talking margins of around 74% to 26% in a couple of cases. She's come nowhere near close to those kinds of numbers, even in her home state of New York. 3. Again, we'll see. It's possible, but I don't think it'll be as high of a margin as she needs. 4. She was the only one on the ballot in Michigan, and even then she only won 55% to 40% who showed up to vote uncommitted. Obama wasn't even on the ballot, so how exactly is that fair? As far as Florida goes, it was 50% for Hillary and 30% for Obama without any campaigning on his part. Who knows what those numbers would have been if he'd had a chance to campaign there. Either way, I don't think the difference in delegates would be enough to help her out a lot the way things have been going. 5. Maybe so, but the fact they were stripped and the candidates agreed not to campaign in those states is what it is. To reverse it now would serve no purpose. Like I said, Obama wasn't even on the ballot in MI. Would kind of be a dirty trick on Clinton's part, dontcha think? 6. I don't think any of the candidates were necessarily in favor of it, however they accepted it and are not trying to continue to change it after the fact. 7. Yeah, I wouldn't count on those delegates going to Clinton. The tide seems to have shifted. 8. And that's exactly the kind of election no one seems to want but people who support Hillary. |

Edwin, I'm not going to go through and quote your response because most of it just boils down to which side you're rooting for. As far as the MI delegates go, I would be very, very pissed if Hillary gets those reinstated because Obama was not on that ballot so that vote is entirely inaccurate and it would be unfair to use it. The fact 40% showed up and voted uncommitted rather than vote for her says a LOT, IMO. By the way, she only started whining about the FL delegates 4 days before the primary and after it was clear she was leading Obama in the polls. Look it up. Either way, Clinton will only continue to make herself look like a whiny bitch if she keeps harping on this. Like I said, even if she does manage to steal the nomination using these tactics, it will only ensure another Republican president in '08. |
