states define it in criminal codes. in many states a juvenile above the age of X is automaticly waved into adult court for certain enumerated crimes. There is usually a hearing where the judge may waive them back into juvenile ct. so, where's the line? depends on the state. go look up the crimnial code in that state |

I think he's challenging the idea of adulthood magically being conferred upon people at 18. And I'm right on point with it -- but how do you propose to measure the place where formerly irresponsible, hormone-driven youngsters become logic-driven, big-picture, responsible types. please let me know if you figure it out. i'm pretty sure i would fail said test at 29.

If a kid shoots some its not like he is going to grow up to be a doctor with the proper counceling. What's the point of putting them in juvi? Take them out of society, and put the parents in jail with them. I don't really understand lesser sentances for under 18, maybe something like under 8 or 12, but kids are growing up quick these days and know whats right and wrong.

this is a great point perhaps as time has passed... the cutoff should be evaluated... or at least adjusted to include amendments | |
