More Red Light Camera BS

Seems as though Dallas is guilty of actually making some intersections less safe in order to make a return on their red-light cameras. Pretty fucking sick if you ask me.

those things are so fucked... my wife got hit with one. The picture provided has a yellow light lit. Problem is, the cost of fighting it is greater than just paying it. And that is with specific intent.

I know there is some research/report somewhere showing that red light cameras actually increase accidents at intersections due to people slamming on their brakes and such. lol

And screw whoever thought this was a good idea.

if it took an hour to get it dismissed it already cost me more that it would have just to pay it...

and it is an administrative violation which means it goes to and ALJ not a court of law etc etc

believe me - the fines are set so that people pay them even if they know they haven't violated any rules because it costs more to fight it than to pay it

while i agree that the system can easy be manipulated... i still think red light cameras are better than having nothing.

I agree, it's just the mentality behind installing them has to be public safety and not a revenue stream. Even if they cause wrecks from people stopping, being rear-ended is 10x better than being side-swiped.

Install fake red light cameras randomly. It won't cost so much that they lose money like they are on the real ones, and it will still keep people from running lights.

i think they should do this at every intersection.

same way they do speed cameras in britain. you never know which ones are on and which ones arent.

this imo also helps the pr strategy of safety over revenue.

I actually think we should have a government traffic official ride shotgun in all cars to make sure drivers comply with all traffic laws.

We could use dwarfs because they really don't matter much and take up less space in a car... plus they need the work.
