| Rev. Wright was the Clinton's Spiritual Advisor?
Wait, what? Michael Moore dropped a bombshell on his blog today: http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/me...dex.php?id=225 excerpt: "Finally, I want to say a word about the basic decency I have seen in Mr. Obama. Mrs. Clinton continues to throw the Rev. Wright up in his face as part of her mission to keep stoking the fears of White America. Every time she does this I shout at the TV, "Say it, Obama! Say that when she and her husband were having marital difficulties regarding Monica Lewinsky, who did she and Bill bring to the White House for 'spiritual counseling?' THE REVEREND JEREMIAH WRIGHT!" *** I'm still hunting around for verification of this. It is, of course, Michael Moore so I'd like to find something from a more reliable source. |

brought in to the White House for marriage counseling vs 20 years as Obama's pastor... are you serious? How about we just agree to tar and feather both of them for their association with that American hating bigot huh? |

Hrm...on that note, another article making the rounds about the Rev. Wright: LAWRENCE KORB AND IAN MOSS, CHICAGO TRIBUNE In 1961, a young African-American man, after hearing President John F. Kennedy's challenge to, "Ask not what your ccountry can do for you, but what you can do for your country," gave up his student deferment, left college in Virginia and voluntarily joined the Marines. In 1963, this man, having completed his two years of service in the Marines, volunteered again to become a Navy corpsman. (They provide medical assistance to the Marines as well as to Navy personnel.) The man did so well in corpsman school that he was the valedictorian and became a cardiopulmonary technician. Not surprisingly, he was assigned to the Navy's premier medical facility, Bethesda Naval Hospital, as a member of the commander in chief's medical team, and helped care for President Lyndon B. Johnson after his 1966 surgery. For his service on the team, which he left in 1967, the White House awarded him three letters of commendation. While this young man was serving six years on active duty, Vice President Dick Cheney, who was born the same year as the Marine/sailor, received five deferments, four for being an undergraduate and graduate student and one for being a prospective father. Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, both five years younger than the African-American youth, used their student deferments to stay in college until 1968. Both then avoided going on active duty through family connections. Who is the real patriot? The young man who interrupted his studies to serve his country for six years or our three political leaders who beat the system? Are the patriots the people who actually sacrifice something or those who merely talk about their love of the country? After leaving the service of his country, the young African-American finished his final year of college, entered the seminary, was ordained as a minister, and eventually became pastor of a large church in one of America's biggest cities. This man is Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the retiring pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, who has been in the news for comments he made over the last three decades. |

United States of KKK America.... God Damn America What happened that a man who would do such a noble and great thing to serve his country would come so far as to say those things from the pulpit to a huge congregation of people who hang on his every word? Look Audri, Wright's character isn't going to get rehabilitated in any way that'll satisfy fence sitters that were turned off by the comments.. the damage is done and it ain't getting fixed on that score. Add to this the fact that Obama had his capaign kick off party at the home of a Weather Ungerground bomber who not only doesn't regret bombing but wishes he had bombed more and his wife's wonderful history of approval of sepratism and never until 6 months ago being proud of America and one us left asking... Why does this guy who surrounds himself with people who were never proud of America, wanted to bomb it more and who said from the pulpit, "goddamn America" would want to be the President of so horrible a place? Barak Obama has some 'splainin' to do for all his associations... |

Pfft. Barack doesn't have to say a word. The only people freaking out are on the right, and maybe some Hillary supporters. Every time there's even the slightest hiccup in Obama's campaign, the Hillary supporters and McCain supporters turn into a flock of Chicken Littles, clucking about how his campaign is sunk. Hasn't happened. McCain did far more damage to his campaign with the "100 years in Iraq" quote than anything Obama's said. Hillary ate it when she lied about the sniper fire and if it turns out Wright was the Clintons' marital counselor, she's going to be crucified after the big stink she made about Obama's association with him. So far the worst that's been thrown at Obama is a bunch of fear-mongering by Hillary and the right, and even that doesn't appear to be sticking. Obama has remained calm, cool, and collected. That is what people are taking notice of, and it's making Hillary and McCain look downright silly in comparison.

Most importantly... McCain doesn't look silly because he's barely a blip right now. The sharks are too busy watching the Democrats devour themselves.

I know people who would rather vote for Satan than another Republican. And Obama has a very solid plan for a gradual withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Since you refuse to actually research or read anything, I'm not going to waste my time explaining it to you for the 3rd or 4th time. And, yes, people are watching McCain. He's going to be portrayed as a jumpy, angry old man. Like so: Compared to a smooth-talking, calm and collected Obama...well, let's just say I don't think this is as cut and dry as you're making it out to be. I also strongly disagree with you about the middle. They want out of this war. They will go with the person who is opposed to the war. I'm afraid you're way off the mark on this one. Most people have already accepted there is no way to win and it's time to just cut our losses and get out. |

McCain has been the anti-Republican Republican for the last decade. He plays well to that diseffected crowd that can't stand "conservatives" but can't stand liberals either. Quote:
However, you're making my point. To some the war issue plays really well if there concern is withdrawal... ie.. losing the war. That is how it will be framed and that won't play well with most Americans, even those who generally don't like the war. The problem many on the far left have is that they read disapproval of the war with a desire to leave... quiote rather most of those people, includin tgmyslef got pissed that we weren't doing what it took to win it... and in that sense I disapprove. That doesn't mean I don't want to win it. I'm not atypical.. the far left thinks I'm a 1 percenter for that POV. The surge gave hope to those who'd like to win the war. If there is significant political progress to go with the security progress this will more easily and strongly tilt to McCain imo. Quote:

Obama has to get the nod... if he doesn't the party will be ripped apart. I think cooler heads will prevail and they'd rather risk a loss than split the Democrats.

| Well then make it so, Mr. Mod. I'm sure there are ones out there. You can add it to ddm and call it :rufus: ![]() P.S. Why the fuck are you reading anything Michael Moore has to say? (Why did you add this to my post instead of just replying? haha. And this Michael Moore thing is circulating all over the internet right now.) Last edited by TragicallyUnhip; 04-21-08 at 10:53 PM. |
