JERUSALEM - An Israeli medical team has started tests using the drug Ecstasy as a treatment for conflict-linked post-traumatic disorders, the Maariv daily reported on Friday.
Doctors at the Beer-Yakov psychiatric hospital south of Tel Aviv are testing the response of Israeli post-traumatic disorder patients to MDMA, the active ingredient in the drug.
Rakefet Rodriguez, Sergio Marchiveski and Marina Kaufchicz, who are leading the experimental programme, are convinced that psychotheraphy is crucial in curing patients and that Ecstasy can help them to recover.
The doctors believe the drug has both calming and stimulating effects that can help patients not only overcome trauma but also dominate it, Maariv said.
Almost 500 reserve troops suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder following the 34-day war that pitted Israeli troops against Lebanon's Hezbollah Shiite militia in July and August 2006, the paper said.
Ecstasy, which is illegal in most countries, is one of the world's most commonly used narcotics.

Extacy was developed as a medical drug. It was taken off the shelf because it didn't work well long term. It was made schedule 1 because of the abuse.

There was a really good thing about the effects of extacy that some guy did for school. I can't find it though. Basically extacy tells your body to release all the seritonin in your brain. This is what makes you feel good. The problem is that you body will break down seritonin when you have to much of it. So what happens? You don't have any seritonin left after a while, and you get depressed. That is also why you can't OD on extacy, and if you have been rolling your balls off for 3 days taking more just isn't going to do anything.

You have to take an MAOI like prozac with extacy. Prozac works by shutting down the mechanism in your brain that breaks down seritonin. Prozac instead tears up yout liver. GG jewish doctors. This artical is not high tech, or savvy.

It was made schedule I by the DEA by fiat over recommendations by many experts (including the judge presiding over the DEA hearings) that it remain schedule III.

But its still illegal right? Its not like they take you to a different prison depending on who made the law. Not everyone is a JD/MD. Besides, lawyers are probably out there doing the drugs they are putting people away for. Its purely a conflict of public interest to let them make the law here.

If you're comfortable with some bureaucrat deciding what substances are and are not illegal... even to the point of overruling experts on the substance and the judge who presided over hearigns on the topic so be it. I generally prefer legislators who are accountable to the people and who face election every so often to make decisions like that.

That not everyone is a JD/MD has absolutely nothing to do with anything. That lawyers do or not take drugs has even less to do with anything. Its purely a conflict of public interest for whom to make what law? You make no sense.

I responded because you asked a question and then rambled through a murky set of irrlevent assertions to arrive at an indecipherable point.

I'm not pro ecstacy... I'm opposed to bureaucrats deciding what is and is not illegal. It matters to me that we have our legislators make law not administrators.

Your use of pronouns is specifically the problem. You improperly reference the antecedent noun making it garbled crap to read.
