Best Idea for the Dems?

actually makes sense. whoever gets elected in 2008 will have a tough time, inherit a war that needs about 4 years to get things under control.

He should just cede to her, be the VP, and then hire someone to kill her after her first mistake.

Meh. I get the article's logic, but for Obama to drop out right now would be devastating to the vast number of his supporters who feel that he's the only hope we have to change the face of politics. Hillary has led an increasingly negative, dishonest, and hypocritical campaign, even if you overlook the clusterfuck that's been her basic organization and campaign finance. Barack will get the nomination, and Hillary can go fuck herself.

Aye, to dichotomous hell with this warped two-party system. No way out.

I quietly condone this.

The way it looks the democratic party has blown it itself. According to new polls on Fox news last night Swing states have a very high level of mistrust for Obama. So they inevitably will lose those states to liberal in sheeps clothing :McCain.McCain had a cheek recently to say he was the only one working on the Energy policies/Greenhouse effects etc..

When Bush would not concede anything to the that treaty most of the world follows i then thought he now must rank as the worst pres ever behind Carter and Nixon.Either way i he is in the bottom 3 and just b4 he moves to Preston Rd i believe(up the rd from me) I will be moving from Texas for good...I hate him more than my wife im divorcing to be...i certainly will not live in the same stae as him and my soon to be ex wife...off to California

Liberal in sheep's clothing? He is a hawkish, pro-trade, pro-life Republican. Where's the disguise?

No, that some of the world signed on to and many are abandoning which China and India never signed. Kyoto asked the US to handicap its economy so that India and China could pollute away. That's bad for the US economy and bad for the planet to give those two states carte blanche.

You thought the failure to send us into recession by signing Kyoto made him one of the worst Presidents? If the ME adventure fails... that'll make him one of the worst.... not Kyoto...

I've recently posted the rates of unemployment, inflation and the prime rate during carter... I'll concede that he didn't create the problem.... however, each measure he took made it worse.

Fact is Bush will be judged by history years from now. If things in the ME work out he'll be viewed well. If things don't, he'll rank right where you've got him now.

mweh... the Dems, for all their stupidity in the primaries haven't tanked. They did however make it possible for a Republican to actually have chance, which they didn't have before.

Eh, things are going to settle down after June 3rd, and all those Hillary supporters that claim they'll never vote for Obama will have to fact the facts. I don't think McCain has a real chance in the fall, especially with the ambivalence we're seeing among evangelicals about being involved in politics.

The only way I could see Obama failing is if he makes a really lousy choice for VP, like Hillary. He's smart enough not to do that, though, and will probably go with someone like Jim Webb who can balance out his relative inexperience with foreign policy and national security matters.

That is a problem for McCain which is why the assertions that he's in the pocket of the religious right baffle me. Still, like you said of Hillary supporters turning to Obama at the end of the day when they look at the alternative.... think the evangeleicals won't go through same analysis w/McCain?

some one said that they had no idea who Obama would pick but his first name will be "General."

That's a valid point, but I think that the Hillary supporters are Democrats through and through. The evangelical alliance with the Republican party was always shaky at best and if there is a Republican candidate that doesn't appeal to them, there's a greater chance they'll just sit it out in November.

Wes Clark would be another good choice, as would someone like Anthony Zinni. However, in addition to his tenure as Secretary of the Navy (under Regan, no less), Jim Webb has the blue collar, NRA cred that Obama needs, and he's from the deep south. I think he'd make a much stronger veep.

We'll see what happens but I think your argument is sound.

Upper South... VA

I agree that he'd make an appealing choice for Obama

Woah, I was just reading up on Jim Webb. Have you seen his citation from when he got the Navy Cross? What a fucking badass:

Quote:
The Navy Cross is presented to James H. Webb, Jr., First Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving as a Platoon Commander with Company D, First Battalion, Fifth Marines, First Marine Division (Reinforced), Fleet Marine Force, in connection with combat operations against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam.

On 10 July 1969, while participating in a company-sized search and destroy operation deep in hostile territory, First Lieutenant Webb's platoon discovered a well-camouflaged bunker complex that appeared to be unoccupied. Deploying his men into defensive positions, First Lieutenant Webb was advancing to the first bunker when three enemy soldiers armed with hand grenades jumped out. Reacting instantly, he grabbed the closest man and, brandishing his .45 caliber pistol at the others, apprehended all three of the soldiers.

Accompanied by one of his men, he then approached the second bunker and called for the enemy to surrender. When the hostile soldiers failed to answer him and threw a grenade that detonated dangerously close to him, First Lieutenant Webb detonated a claymore mine in the bunker aperture, accounting for two enemy casualties and disclosing the entrance to a tunnel. Despite the smoke and debris from the explosion and the possibility of enemy soldiers hiding in the tunnel, he then conducted a thorough search that yielded several items of equipment and numerous documents containing valuable intelligence data.

Continuing the assault, he approached a third bunker and was preparing to fire into it when the enemy threw another grenade. Observing the grenade land dangerously close to his companion, First Lieutenant Webb simultaneously fired his weapon at the enemy, pushed the Marine away from the grenade, and shielded him from the explosion with his own body. Although sustaining painful fragmentation wounds from the explosion, he managed to throw a grenade into the aperture and completely destroy the remaining bunker. By his courage, aggressive leadership, and selfless devotion to duty, First Lieutenant Webb upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and of the United States Naval Service.[6]
I wonder what Karl Rove will do with that - claim the man he saved was really his lover?
