actually makes sense. whoever gets elected in 2008 will have a tough time, inherit a war that needs about 4 years to get things under control. http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com...dest-proposal/ |

Meh. I get the article's logic, but for Obama to drop out right now would be devastating to the vast number of his supporters who feel that he's the only hope we have to change the face of politics. Hillary has led an increasingly negative, dishonest, and hypocritical campaign, even if you overlook the clusterfuck that's been her basic organization and campaign finance. Barack will get the nomination, and Hillary can go fuck herself.

oh man I think that this year could be the beginning of something fruitful for a 3rd party.

The way it looks the democratic party has blown it itself. According to new polls on Fox news last night Swing states have a very high level of mistrust for Obama. So they inevitably will lose those states to liberal in sheeps clothing :McCain.McCain had a cheek recently to say he was the only one working on the Energy policies/Greenhouse effects etc.. When Bush would not concede anything to the that treaty most of the world follows i then thought he now must rank as the worst pres ever behind Carter and Nixon.Either way i he is in the bottom 3 and just b4 he moves to Preston Rd i believe(up the rd from me) I will be moving from Texas for good...I hate him more than my wife im divorcing to be...i certainly will not live in the same stae as him and my soon to be ex wife...off to California

I've recently posted the rates of unemployment, inflation and the prime rate during carter... I'll concede that he didn't create the problem.... however, each measure he took made it worse. Fact is Bush will be judged by history years from now. If things in the ME work out he'll be viewed well. If things don't, he'll rank right where you've got him now. | |||

The only way I could see Obama failing is if he makes a really lousy choice for VP, like Hillary. He's smart enough not to do that, though, and will probably go with someone like Jim Webb who can balance out his relative inexperience with foreign policy and national security matters.

Wes Clark would be another good choice, as would someone like Anthony Zinni. However, in addition to his tenure as Secretary of the Navy (under Regan, no less), Jim Webb has the blue collar, NRA cred that Obama needs, and he's from the deep south. I think he'd make a much stronger veep.

Woah, I was just reading up on Jim Webb. Have you seen his citation from when he got the Navy Cross? What a fucking badass: Quote:
