![]() | France may "breathalyze" clubs
Say goodbye to the "good ol' days" if something like this ever passes in the US... not to mention how much biz the bars would lose. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7395401.stm Quote:

doesnt seem so bad to me, all it is doing is offering a service to customers, it doesnt say that it is manditory to use on your way out. but if there was a breathalizer avaliable to use to check if you had too much to drink i think it would benifit those people who use it. there are some bars in arizona that i have been to that have them. they cost a quarter to use and they have big signs saying that they are not liable if it shows you are ok to drive and then you get a dui or in an accident.

Might possibly create a rash of alcohol related hospital visits due to frat boys trying to see how drunk they can get as well.

EDIT: after more research a number of sites maintain that it will be mandatory for people to be tested on the way out. This article was not clear on that. It's not very well written if this is the case. Subsequent research makes it clearer. I'd still like to see the bill itself though. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...12/2241634.htm http://www.adetocqueville.com/200805...cejox12121.htm That little line left out at the beginning makes a world of difference

The point is, technically, if you are drunk at a bar you are breaking the law. So if you are required to take a breathalyser and you are drunk, there could be a nice policeman waiting outside to haul your ass to detox for 12 hours or write you a ticket, even if you aren't driving.
