Mexican Drug Cartels

So I've been watching on the news lately how a ton of police officers are getting killed over in Mexico. I've also been seeing the news how the US is going to vote on the Merida Initiative which would give Mexico 1.4 billion dollars to combat the cartels.

The 1.4 billion would go towards training and arming the military over in Mexico.

If I remember correctly thats exactly how the Zetas got formed. They were trained to find the cartels and wiped them out. Once the completed their training they went to work for the cartels.

It'd probably be more efficient for the US/Mexican gov'ts to just buy all the cartel's dope from them and destroy it than to engage in confrontation of this type... and get fewer people killed.

Or just legalize it, you want to shut a cartel down fast put them in competition with Phillip Morris, Brown & Willimson, and RJ Renolds. The drug cartels would be missing the old days when they could just blow the competitions head off.

more likely Merck, Dow or Wyeth but still.... squarely on point... this is a tired point that I've got to believe huge numbers of Americans are starting to accept but DC hasn't picked up on yet

As if the news would actually get a hold of that kind of information.

US/Mexican gov'ts officials don't make much $$$ so they sometimes moonlight in other work... How could ANYTHING stop a business that makes so much money in such little time?
