We give a shit about a popularity contest with the rest of the world, why? I thought Jacques Chirac was your archetypal spineless, two-faced Frenchman. I doubt anyone in France gave a shit what I thought about him though, because he represented the views of his constituency. It's stupid to hound on McCain for a geographical gaff when he was spot on about the issue. Russia is bullying their former satellite states for cozying up to the west and exercising their autonomy. That fact is probably missed by half the people here who wanna get their panties in a twist about him making another gaff. Have you heard anything coming close to that kind of detail from Obama's camp? Hell no, all you hear is foreign policy pillow talk, he doesn't understand the intricacies nearly as well as McCain does.

So are you saying the Land that was formerly known as Czechoslovakia just doesn not exist? like it disappeared or something? No, it was split up into two different regions know now as Czech Republic and Slovakia. I think using Texas as a state/country is a poor analogy but whatever. you pointed out above... there are plenty of substantive reasons to find a deal breaker with McCain (or Obama) these stupid gaffes offered up as substance which are in fact complete bullshit makes it difficult to accept substance when presented because of all the crap surrounding it. No one (mostly the media) makes big deals about Obama's retarded ass remarks because they're in love with him and a good portion of the media, entertainment ind., and schools/colleges/universities lean left anyway (to control public opinion and misinform when is suits their agenda).

When you have institutions like the mainstream media in the tank for one candidate over another you'll get wide spread coverage over a slip of words from the opposition. And no coverage or excuses to cover-up the slip of words of the hopeful victor. Then they’ll also try to twist facts and point out flaws of their opposition in an attempt to expose a candidate for something they know their own messiah has been guilty of as well. In an attempt to shift the public’s focus the other way. Most of these will be preemptive strikes too to disarm anticipated resistance.

Examples: With Obama they have been attacking McCain’s service record, because Obama hasn’t one. Or when they call McCain “McSame” knowing that McCain’s stances on many of our biggest concerns do not mimic Bush’s at all. Or they’ll talk about “Obama The Uniter” yet McCain has reached across the isle a lot more than the most liberal senator of 2007.

Now, both sides do this but most of the ones I see are supporting Obama. Then I’ll see tricky (just like the mainstream media) running over these same leftist media talking points he read on some blog time and time again even though they know they hold no merit.
