The point of the republicans sending out the guages and making hay out of the whole issue was not to say the gesture was stupid in any way shape or form. But to point out that was all he had to say during the interview. Everyone knows checking pressure is neccesary. But why not go a simple step further, since Obama knows it all, and also recommend rotating tires? Proper rotation is just as important as checking pressure. Tires are made with LOTS of crude oil. Making them last as long as possible is a excellent way to use less oil.
Would probably have more of effect on crude consumption then simply checking air pressure. Which is done by most Americans anyway.
