on the contrary I believe this proves the theory that the right is constantly excusing anything a politician in the right wing does wrong

progress - it's funny to me that you have to say "keep reaching for what's not there" because you have no argument against what nyteshade stated

xian - just admit the dude was holding the flag incorrectly. it is all of you that will not admit that bush was holding the flag incorrectly that are being unpatriotic because it's obviously more important to defend a president than to defend the American flag

The Daily Show has been fun lately with clips of bush during his china visit lol.

In his interview with Bob Costas, he suggests Russia should use diplomacy with Georgia instead of invading (much to the contrary of our own policy); when Costas says 'Given China's growing strength and America's own problems, realistically how much leverage and influence does the US have here?" - Bush abruptly answers, "First of all, America doesn't have any problems."

You forgot the dozens of trips to the UN by Sec State Powell? The refusal to permit inspectors into certain sites? The ongoing efforts to avoid war by using diplomacy?

The two events are comparable only in that their is fighting going on - not in the basis or lead or intent of the leaders who sent the forces etc for the fighting.

You mean all that deplomacy where we dragged Iraq in front of the UN and demanded that they admit to having WMD's and show us where they are. The trips where we tried to make them admit to using the nuke plants for weapons research. The same trips where we demanded that they destroy and provide evidence of destruction for a bunch of crap that they didnt even have in the first place.

Those same trips where the record now shows that Iraq was telling the truth the entire time, there were no WMD's and our own officials now say the plants were never used for weapons research.

While this may be true, its laughable to hear a GOP fanboy giving props to the UN system when 6 years ago you were posting that the UN needed to step aside and just allow us to invade Iraq.

I'm not giving any props to the UN - I'm just reciting facts. FTR - fuck the UN. We did trapse back and forth to the UN. Id'a bypassed the bitches just like Clinton did w/Bosnia if I was POTUS - GW should have too.

The fact remains we tried dimplomacy. You cannot say the same of Russia. Hell, a better comparison would be Gulf War I where Iraq actually invaded and we tried every diplomatic effort to resolve the issue (Russia of course was a tremendous obstacle) in that case to.

We tried diplomacy in both cases (and was obstructionist in both) and Russia tried tanks. That's just fact.
