And to clear things up, Georgia invaded Russia first on the opening day of the Olympics. Georgia launched a surprise attack on an independent, autonomous region, South Ossetia, killing civilians and Russian peacekeepers. It is being spun by the MSM here in the west that Russia invaded Georgia.

The reality is that Georgia with the aid of U.S. military advisors and foreign military invaded a territory within Georgia, South Ossetia, which is an independent, autonomous region with many residents granted Russian citizenship, intentionally killing civilians. It is reported the U.S. conducted exercises with Georgia with over 1,000 U.S. military personnel. I speculate that this invasion was a test of Russian resolve. We should care because Russia has and has threatened to use nuclear weapons if threatened. No matter if America is is billions of dollars in dept to china and rest of the world, no matter if general news lie about almost everything to keep the general public completely lost, no matter if tankers full of oil dock every day and you still pay 4$ for gas, no matter that a lot of young american soldiers died for that, and no matter that Georgia is a usa founded country that used usa weapons that day against innocent civilians, obviously things will just keep getting worse and worse. Sad but true. And in the end do you now what its all about? Money my friend.

The source is Russian news based in the UK. As well as many other news networks in several European countries. The attack was made on the day Olympics opened for a reason. If you watch any of the world news on f.t.a(free to air) satellites you can see for your self. Also here is a fairly honest article, I think from Chicago. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/...,5431730.story And here is a Russian source. http://www.russiatoday.com/news/news/28640 Quote:

These regions are historically Georgian. They are populated by monirity groups that Stalin split up to set different ethnic minorities against one another to make it easier to control the locals. Classic technique. Georgia has tolerated some degree of autonomy from these regions but they are not at all Russian soil - that's just silly. Georgia did go into those autonomous areas that have historically been Georgian and then Russia invaded Georgia and has agreed to and completely ignored a cease-fire agreement. note that the red border includes these autonomous zones w/in Georgia - NOT Russia. There's no mystery here. Russia knew Georgia was going in because Russia had troops and tanks at jumping off points. Putin intends to topple the gov't and install a puppet as he continues to reassemble the old empire. Putin's got some leverage w/Europe as a supplier of gas to Europe but we have some too. He'll get Russia out of the G8 (bribnging them in was intended to foster growing democracy and free market economy) and the NATO-Russian Joint Council is pretty much shot (another move intended to reassure Russia that NATO's intentions were not to harm Russia) so there's leverage back. This is reminiscent of ceding the Sudetenland.... we learned a good lesson then. I think most euros should recognize that stopping Russia now will be easier than stopping her later. On nukes, Russia's nukes are old and crap the biggest worry for them is blowing up before liftoff... then warhead guidance - who the hell knows where they'll wind up. They ain't using them agaist us when we have weapons that we've been using in wars over the past two decades which have insanely accurate guidance systems. Though apparently, and this is just from recollection so I could be completely wrong.... they developed a new conventional weapon that is supposed to rival if not exceed nuclear payload. Still, the Russian military is in shambles and not capable of sustained warfare - we can back them down if NATO behaves as NATO is designed to behave and comes to the defense of Georgia (another reason no nukes.... think Putin would risk it all on Georgia when he knows all of NATO would retaliate?). On the otherhand it could force NATO to collapse - that would be the thing that would be most frightening. It would mean the end of the will to defend one's self in the west - game over. In other news, Poland today signed a preliminary deal with the US for a missile defense shield. I view Russia in the same light as I do the US... and China... they all create scenarios to conduct combat operations of their choosing. 'Georgian troops killed Russian peacekeepers' -- yeah maybe, but Russia was the country with 150+ tanks staged on the border of the region, and Russia was the one who went into Georgia... not vice versa. And the claims of the South Ossetia citizens being murdered and such... but the only video/photos I have seen have been Georgian towns being bombed and blown to pieces. /shrug And all of this is from open media websites or non-US media. Of course the headlines are skewed in the US as everyone competes for ratings and what not. I'd prefer we just stay out of the mess, honestly.

Think Poland saw what's going on in Georgia and is thinking, "fuck that noise"? rape of warsaw: http://stosstruppen39-45.tripod.com/id6.html I'd prefer we not need to get into this mess either but wtf are we supposed to do? Let Russia swallow up whatever states it feels like swallowing up and yoking its people under the same oppression that the Russians live under? | ||

Hmmm, I thought Russians were fairly happy nowadays and love Putin? He is putting them back on the world stage as a major player again. Also it comes down to the 'world police' argument. Are we the good guy? To be clear, I am not saying Russia doesn't do shady shit, but I think the US is King of Shady at the moment. |
