![]() | The Socialistic States of America
put on your foil hat... i'm back with my paranoia... I really hate to seem like a radical conspiracy theorist... but the pieces of the puzzle are there... whether they fit together or not is out of our hands or knowledge. I'm not sure if you have ever read the book "This Present Darkness" by Frank Peretti.... but at the end, it becomes apparent that a college was taken over by a man who deliberately ran the finances under so that the college would be in a place to be sold to a corporation. The man who was ruining the finances, was actually siphoning money to the very corporation that was setup to come in and take over. This seems too similar to our current state. Our government is "bailing out" (or "buying out") these companies, therefore becoming the majority stock/equity holder in the companies. they are doing this so that the free market will not fail, thus negating the free market and making it a socialism. The people will be unhappy that the government is doing this, but happy with the outcome..... therefore, furthering their complacency and trust into an encompassing government. I believe this is happening to keep this country strong in the world stage so that we can remain a strong entity in the global economy and government. I believe they will justify the bailouts by admitting that they now own the companies (not just helped them), and will pass the profit off to the tax payers that paid for the bailout (which they will not). The government was never supposed to be a player in the free market... they are not supposed to be a "business' at all! I also believe that after a few more bail outs... the government will say that they need to regulate the market so they can keep these bail outs from happening. Then... they will not only be a player in the free market... but they will have the power to regulate it so that it fits their needs.

no. actually the bailout is being set into place so the market doesn't crash with catastrophic consequences around the globe with the lesson learned that a free market economy is only good in theory but the reality is that regulations must be set into place

![]() | that's a non sequitur... you asserted that the market is unregulated which is patently false. Loaded into your false assertion is the claim that had regultions been in place none of this would have happened. One of the primary factors contributing to the subprime fiasco was the Community Reinvestment Act and Clinton's take on it. Anyway... the Dow http://www.minyanville.com/assets/ca...ow100YrsMV.jpg the market... it has its occassional problems but overall its the best way to go |

So true, it brings to mind the Aldous Huxley speech at Berkley in 1962, where he talks about people being sold, and manipulated, to love their slavery, to love their servitude. that one is only audio,..but here is a video of him, kind of fitting in such a post, in such a strange, brave new world if you will, sorry if i sound lame http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/multimedia...ey_aldous.html
