a lighter thread

my girlfriend sent this to me today..

a light hearted thread in light of the current situation.

Subject: Liquid Assets

I like this way of thinking...

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Delta Airlines one year ago,
you will have $49.00 today.

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in AIG one year ago, you will have
$33.00 today.

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Lehman Brothers one year ago,
you will have $0.00 today.

But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all
the beer,

then turned in the aluminum cans for recycling refund, you will have
received a $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily
& recycle. It is called the 401-Keg.

oooh oooh oooh! I have one! My dad pulled a funny on me yesterday. I called my parents and politics popped up. I figured it was now or never as far as trying to talk them into voting for O'bama (suprisingly this went MUCH better than I thought).

As the conversation was winding down:

Dad (he's 74): "So and so and the feed store told me that I needed to be careful. If I get an email that says it has naked pictures of Sarah Palin I shouldn't open it... He said it could have a computer virus on it.

Me (computer professional): Yes that's true.

Dad: Yeah, he said it could wipe out my entire hard drive...

Me: possibly. You have to be careful with that kind of email. Just don't open them at all. Be sure and delete them!

Dad: Oh! He told me to be careful of emails that says it has naked pictures of Hillary in them too. He said they might NOT be a virus.

Me: face-palm.jpg.

Using today's average price of scrap aluminum of $.82 per pound and approximately 34 cans per pound, it would take 8928.13 (~744 12 packs) beers to generate enough scrap AL to make $214.

a lot of states have a per can deposit requirement - for example one thin dime per can in Michigan.... problem is.... its your dime that you get back unless you're collecting some one else's cans

Your post said aluminum cans so I just looked up the average 12 oz can.
