Sarah Palin calls Texas "Alaska's little sister state"

A couple of my friends posted it in their livejournals. As you can tell by taking a look at the comments, Texans were not amused. As of 10pm, the quote is now mysteriously missing from the article. Things that make you go "hmmmm..........."

This was what she originally said:

"It is good to be visiting here in Alaska's little sister state Texas."

I wouldn't have paid much attention except for the fact that the quote causing the stir is now conspicuously missing. Wonder if somebody's packing up his desk. lol

"Little sister" referring to Texas is downright arrogant. While it's an attempt to foster familiarity, I'd say it completely back-fired.

Texas as anything small and feminine? Small is a "hell NO!" I'd pretty much insist that Texas is gender neutral.

i know the 3 biggest states are cali, texas and alaska. I thought texas was bigger than alaska.

Texas 268,601 square miles
California 163,707 square miles

how can alaska be that big? secondly, why does anyone care because no one lives in alaska. I don't relate to palin or her soccer mom style anymore.

Because every map we see of the US has a seperate section for Alaska windowed off. No one ever notices that the section for Alaska is a totally different scale.
