Since the bible-thumpers established the Office of Faith-Based programs, use the bible to justify their rage toward homosexuals, and want to reverse Roe v. Wade; why aren't they upset by these ARM's and high credit card rates?

Hahha, a lot of time they do this after the promo rate, or if you miss a payment. Why do you defend this? These payback terms do nothing to grow the economy or strengthen the nation. Talk about wealth transfer. This is extremely punitive rates for people who got into this situation for anything from poor decisions to healthcare spending. And is it really worth making people declare bankruptcy because the bank wont lower the interest rate to something manageable...thats not beneficial at all to the economy

No they don't, but they give people more than enough rope to hang themselves. And when they do that, we all pay for their stupidity. I'm not defending these people, I'm defending the idea that we don't need a debt based society. Credit should be tighter.

people should be more responsible with credit.

Our system runs on credit - not sure how you regulate stupidity and irresponsibility.

Are you missing the parallels of credit card mismanagement and home loan mismanagement. You don't just let it go wild. Since people obviously can't be responsible, take actions. Set lower interest ceiling, set debt/income limits. Don't give people the ability to charge 20k when they make 50k. That is not responsible.

When Sallie and Freddie kept snapping up shitty paper and Reno threatened to sue of banks didn't issue shitty paper what are the banks to do? When the Dems prevented reform legislation from making it out of committee there was further frustration of purpose.

Not that they're exclusively the source of the problem... the RASTs sucked up huge amounts of foreign capital bound up in the FL and CA markets
