When I was a minor, I saw other minors naked. We didn't have camera phones when I was in high shcool, but we would go to parties and get wild. I guess we should all be registered as sex offenders for child pornography?

In this story it makes more sense because he is 18 and his girlfriend was 16 that he sent naked pictures of, but further in the story they are charging a girl who took pictures of HERSELF when she was 12 and trying to charge her as a sex offender.

That seems so fucking ridiculous. Let's ruin childrens lives because they took pictures of themselves?

I think there is a HUGE difference between an old man raping children and a few teens sharing naughty photos. Of course, the old man would do time, but should they both be registered sex offenders?

(and yes, xian, I know the law states that they should, but do you agree with the law?)

The whole system is laughable at this point. Let's keep all children in burqas until they are 18 so they aren't looked at sexually. Sex offender laws were set up to protect children from predators, not themselves.

On that same tip I was on the police departments website looking at all the Sex Offenders in my neighborhood. Sure enough some 19 year old dude is on there for boning a 15 year old. The next person after him is a 56 year old man who got busted for molesting a 4 year old. Something about grouping these two people together seems ridiculous to me.

Yeah the whole law is very gray, which turns it into almost a black and white issue... if that makes sense. If you commit an offense you become a sex offender no matter the degree. So your example is pretty spot on... a 50 year old can rape a baby and be in the same class of a 19 year old having consensual sex with a 15 year old. Or a 16 year old sending nude pics of themselves to someone.

These kids lives are pretty much ruined. You can't live within X amount of distance to a church, park, school, daycare, whatever. Some communities have stricter laws than others, and plus you are now on probation for what, 5 or 10 years? I doubt any reputable job will hire them either. Good grief.

Ive said it many times and I'll say it again... 19 y/o boys don't get in hot water for fucking 15 y/o girls. The get in hot water when they stop fucking them.

This is so fucking dumb. I had so many videos/pictures when I was 13-18 of myself and my girlfriends. I can't even imagine the trouble I'd be in. Shit, I still had some of them until recently.
Hell I think every one of my friends had at least one picture of themselves naked or topless that had been seen by everyone in the group.
It's just fucking stupid that I can have sex with a 16 year old when Im 16, but i cant take a picture of her. And if i still have that picture when I turn 18, WHOA BUDDY! Time to call the fbi.

Yeah, they act like this is some sort of new phenomenon. I'm sure there are still undeveloped rolls of film in my parent's attic somewhere full of 15 year old pussy - we used to take nudie pics out by their pool, and go develop them up at school. To think that kids are getting charged with child porn over this is ridiculous.

What's even crazier is the high school vice principal that got charged with child pr0n because he found a pic on a student's cell, and downloaded a copy to report to his principal. Luckily he beat the charges, but it cost him 130k. Further proof that most DA's are slimeball pieces of shit.
