Well I understand all that, Im just saying it a good thing as far as sending a positive message to the masses, even though Im sure plenty of people will be pissed about it. It promotes tolerance and equality even if it doesnt implement any actual legislation/policy.

I mean having it recognized like this is good I guess. /shrugs. I dont know how much giving a month to something really means anyhow. It seems like the purple ribbon they give out to kids in competitions. You didnt win, but heres a participation ribbon.

I agree with Johnny. I mean, I dont think this makes Obama look any better than the rest. I pretty muched assumed this issue ( no matter how little is addressed) would be coming any time now.

Its our generations "elephant in the room" as far as rights.

The way I see it, Obama is paving the way for things to come. He is taking steps. It's not going to happen overnight. I think he's a very smart man. Just like he didn't dodge the issue of abortion at Notre Dame, he's now bringing awareness of LGBT issues to the forefront as well. Do I wish he'd take the plunge and say he supports gay marriage? Sure. Do I think there's a pretty damn good chance he will in his second term? You betcha.

it has taken a ton of money and energy to get the sitting president to speak so openly nice about homos. and the momentum is growing more and more in getting the same rights and protections for homos as any other minority.


and btw, my understanding that the homo marriage position being taken into the federal courts (recently) is going to be not about "gay marriage", but making it about "2 consenting adults" getting married.

if you put "male and female" getting married, the argument (if i understand correctly) says that you are segregating with that. like if you said "a white man and white female can get married", that's segregation.
