Well, I think even without him saying anything that the country as a whole is becoming much more tolerant of homosexuality.

Unlike Jonny and Xian, though, I think that Obama publicly stating his support behind the LGBT community is a step forward.

Look, I'll explain it to you in small words so you don't get lost. "The person they love" is wholely immaterial. I defy you to find me a marriage certificate that has a little box asking the applicantsd to declare their love for one another. Gay couples are free to love each other as much or as little as they wish. State sanction of marriage doesn't concern itself with that.

Sure, and I advocate changing the defintion so you can. At that point you will have a right. Until that time you are not being denied a right you are being denied a hope, a wish etc. Warping terms like "right" does nothing to help. Explaining why changing the definition is a good thing will. You're coming at this from the, "who the hell are you to deny me" perspective. Do you want to know who the hell they are? They are the voters you need to convince. Pissing them off is a poor way to get them on your side.

Ok so I am not allowed the priveledge/right, what ever you want to call it, to a honest marriage, which could be argued as a pursuit of happiness, the protection of our dual property, to be recognized as family, and all the tax breaks that come along with it. So Im not being denied anything. I should just sit down, shut up, and enjoy my status as a second or pehaps lower class citizen. In a country that prides itself on being the land of freedom and opportunity, no less.
