Funnt thing is... I know a guy who was born as a result of a rape. His mother never treated him like she did his sister. As he grew older he grew to look like his bio-father. So his mother treated him even worse. The result was that he became not unlike his father, a career criminal.

The last I saw of him he had been in and out of the pin twice (2-3 years each stint) and he was my cellmate in Irving Jail (I was in for unpaid tickets) awaiting to be sent to Lew Sterrett for possesion of a very large amount of meth. He was looking at a VERY long stay in prison this time. He may still be there today.

Sad story really.

i grew up with guy that was adopted and his new family was well off.They brought him up from a baby and from what i know with good values.But still after all that he was still a major problem and got into alot trouble.He is now serving time for aggravated assault and come to find out his biological mother and father were crazy. I think no matter what it comes down to tha genes.

also, it becomes a family tradition... grandaughter is born to 16 y/o mom and 32 y/o grandmother. And, just ftr, while we do have an unwed mother problem that's only half of the issue. We also have a large unwed father problem. Their bad behavior continues the problem.

This is where we have to reflect back upon the times and the culture (outside of making it a racial stance, not that you were). In these days where the term "my baby's momma" or "my baby's daddy" is so ACCEPTED and not FROWNED upon, it just slips on through.

While not everyone should be married due to the creation of a child through consensual (or drug induced) activity, there is still a level of responsibility that people are shirking and accepting as okay that really shouldn't be.

The parent not paying for their kids in turn puts the burden back on us and that sucks.

Anyone can be a father or mother, but it takes strength to raise a child and be a PARENT.

Reading an interesting article tracking the birth to unwed mother rates and it's impact on the black community... terribly sad. I'll try to find a link and shoot it to you.
