They know that the middle class pays SSI on 100% of their income while the wealthy pay only on the first 90 grand, creating a downward sliding rate as income rises, yet so called "Socialist" programs like SSI are not means tested, meaning paying a lower rate gets you a bigger check. They also know that executive compensation is paid mainly in bonus' and profit sharing which is taxed at 15%, a rate that pales in comparison to the rate that was withheld from my checks if I dared to work overtime. What else? How about, the shifting of salaried and hourly employees to a self funded retirement system (401 k) that pours our money into the market as capital that the share -compensated Exec's profit from and has been squandered again and again with reckless practices and shady reporting since the 90's (I lost 27,000 at one point to these assholes) while they get made whole with our tax money when their obviously fragile investment vehicles self destruct as anybody who had access to their books could have figured out. But they make the rules, buy the laws , the media to perpetuate this criminal behavior.
The worst part of this? all that tax money that conservatives have whined like infants about paying since 1980(though we paid more than our share) has disappeared down a rat hole. Our Infrastructure has piled up 3 trillion in deferred maintenance bills, our army is stretched to the limit, our schools are crumbling just to state the obvious. Where is our money? .05% of our citizens have more money than is humanly possible to spend, more homes than they can use, yachts, cayman island accts etc.. And when I sell my property I got to pay capital gains to bail out these same assholes, not to fix anything that needs it.

Wow - looked at the first link./.. it isn't a factual breakdown of income brackets, rates and taxes paid its a screed bitching that corporate America makes too much money and therefore we should eat them with a nice chianti and fava beans.

Wow the more I read the more amazed I get. It is making the argument that corp execs are paid too much and uses comparison to the pay top gov't execs (generals and the like) get paid. It asserts the gov't should do what it can to clip the wings of those corporations through denying contracts etc. Not to put too fine a point on it but using governmental authority to direct private company compensation is the epitome of socialist central planning. The problem the authors seized on in error is not execs getting paid too much it is the fact that gov't jobs are paid so under market that it is obscene which means it attracts the true believer and the incompetant. I love misuse of statistics. "Corporation" doesn't automatically mean they make a shit ton of money. Those corporations who paid nothing are the ones who made virtually nothing. There's a ton of Mom and Pop corporations that only went that path over a sole proprietorship as an extra liability shield.

One example being my father's business. He has a privately owned business but he also started a dummy corporation because there's a couple of customers he had to deal with who turned out to be lawsuit happy. Since he doesn't make enough money to turn down paying customers even though they're shitty, the alternative was to funnel their business through the corporation. The corporation has $0 assets, virtually $0 revenue since it's only been used a couple times, and therefore pays $0 taxes.

Another misuse. Social Security tax is hard capped and it's a whole 6.2% for the first $106,800 (since you can't be bothered to cite the amount correctly). When it boils down to it, I pay half the amount of social security taxes that a rich person does and I'm pretty sure that the amount I get back later on in life is going to be the same amount a rich guy gets so I gain more out of it.
