Sarah Palin just resigned as Governor

Yeah, I saw a LOT of anger in her resignation speech. To call it thinly veiled might be generous. I'm not so sure she quit on her own accord. Looks more to me like she was finally strong-armed out after fighting it tooth and nail.

Agreed. This is reflective of what will probably happen if she ever gets elected to any other office (God forbid). I hope she goes home and stays OUT of politics. I'm not a registered member of any certain party, and feel that I would vote for whatever candidate that is best for our country and its people. This being said, Palin is a sad excuse for a politician. She seems more interested in writing books and being on TV than taking care of her state and the people who live there.

Well, my mom brought up an interesting point. She could be firing up to come out swinging in 2012 as the "true maverick." If she resigns instead of plays ball, she can then come back with all of the rhetoric about being the only one who truly decided to not play games with tax-payer's money, etc. They could run a bit of a shock and awe campaign, with her coming out swinging against not only Obama, but the GOP as well. If they throw a more constitutionalist/libertarian spin on her, they might be hoping to pick up the Ron Paul voters and bring them back to the GOP as well bring some younger voters into their party as well. Could be very, very smart if they can pull it off.

anything is possible, but if giving up in the face of adversity is to be considered maverick-like in the coming years, we as a nation are completely fucked.

when the going gets tough, the tough quit? maybe in bizarro world...

let's face it. she quit on a national holiday and she scheduled the press conference so fast that many of the media reps who were invited couldn't even get there in time. my money is on someone having some real dirt on her and using it as leverage to push her out. and it's probably someone in her own party.

This. If I were any of the GOP candidates, I'd hammer this home every chance I got. Make it the GOP version of Hillary's "3 AM phone call" ad and keep pointing out how she didn't even make it through one term before dropping out.

This is exactly how I see it.

I don't care what her reasons for bailing out are, the fact is that she is responsible to the PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR HER.

I voted for Obama, and I don't care how thick the shit gets, he is responsible to the voters. I voted for him, not the next in line.

Palin is history. They can spin this however they want, but the fact is that she QUIT one the most important jobs in America: her responsibility to her country and her people.
