![]() | Re: parable about the current health care debate using our own history No, they don't.. that's why they always correct liberals who say X number of Americans are without healthcare and say that what they meant is that they are without health insurance. But, you're right - we already pay a great deal for many Americans' health care. It is a fluid transitory middle ground that is most at risk because they don't have employer provided care and they don't qualify for public assistence.

PETA is a master debator if I ever saw one. Throwing out published statistics AND personal anecdote! Glorious. All bases covered. I liked the parable, also. The moneyers cannot be trusted, for they have one goal, despite the hat they wear. But I pose a question: is turning away from the free market system to one of universal goverment control going to do much else but limit our options? If I'm no longer free to pursue the best coverage at the price I can afford from a private insurer, is the Man going to offer me the best coverage at the best price or just say "yoink! already gotcho shit, sucka!" and tax my ass to Mars while still giving me the shitty coverage I could have gotten from a private sonofabitch? I guess my question can be best summed up thusly: to whom do I point my bare ass? |

One of my soldiers received a spider bite while we were at Camp Mabry in Austin about 3 months ago. Since it was already Sunday and we were headed back, he decided to go to the VA in Dallas (where he is supposed to go). He waited 19hours before seeing any doctor just to receive a topical treatment. Immediately life-threatening NO, but his elbow was the size of a football when we took him over there. Two months later he waited another 12+ hours to see "anyone" so that they could agree that YES, the doctor he saw 6 months before actually did say that he COULD have the knee surgery he needs after an injury on our last deployment. Of course, he's been going up there over and over and over since we returned in May of 2008. That's just 1 guy's experience. Want more?
