Re: Are there any good countries?

Any country that is still self-sufficient, needs no assistance from the IMF to help build "roads, schools, infrastructure", and has a year-round ability to farm, plant, and crop.

I dont think this ^ country exists anymore.

You're too much of an idiot to live in Aus. Despite the image of your local outback they have quite a bit going on, and its certainly not because its drawing a libertarian exodus.

No, Seriously. Somalia. Sure, they've gone through a decade of Anarchy, but their new central government with its ultra laizze faire style governance and regional xeer legal system is probably the most idealistic state for Libertarianism.

Probably not quite what you pictured for the model Libertarian state, but hey, you get the bad with the good.

Contrary to popular belief, America isn't such a bad place to live.

SHOCKING, I know.

SHOCKING, I know.

that's a popular belief amongst a fairly well defined demographic... they won't be catagorized, they won't "sell out," they wear ironic clothing, they are often perpetual students, often under employed and supported mostly by their parents etc etc basically children rebelling against their parents long after they should have gotten a hair cut and a real job...

holy crap, that article defines a defines a societal cluster-f imo

i'm not having much luck finding a well-off, moderately self-sufficient country where the government doesnt want to regulate every aspect of life. ..though failing fast, perhaps america is still closest to the ideal.

Re: Are there any good countries?

there's a not-so fine line between a libertarian/ socio-conservative principal and anarchistic somalia..
same as there's a not-so fine line between democratic socialism and a communist russia..

Democracy is the worst form of government except for those others that have been tried." Ours is older than any other. Warts and all I think its the greatest state the world has ever seen. We've handed over the reins of government 43 times... all of them peaceful. I don't think any state can claim that many contiguous chganges of power nor over that long a period. Our economy dwarfs the rest of the world. Our much maligned manufacturing sector is larger than the next several state's combined. Plus we've got Leinenkugels and cheese curds, we've got Napa and Tennessee whiskey... we've got Alaska, Yosemite, the largest collection of fresh water (great lakes) in the world. I could go on and on and on until half of DDM pukes but this is a great place to be.
