I guess I should have to be taxed to pay for obese people to get gastric surgery as well so they can lose the weight they were to lazy to lose on thier own?
You know the government promotes ABSTINENCE? I am FOR teaching birth control in high school (hell even middle school) - but this summer the education department decided to that Health wouldn't even be a requirement for graduating. How are kids going to learn all that?

I think every young lady should read Our Bodies, Our Selves by the time they are 14 yr old.

think whatever you want xian. if you actually side with el nino i feel very sorry for you. i am in no way advocating obamacare, lol. there are real ways to fix this problem. i am saying that there is something better out there and no one should have to pay 232,000 for their relative who has passed on. why you guys dont see that that money should not have been spent out of pocket in the first place is beyond me.

have fun with your wrecked system. im done talking about healthcare with you all.

don't get so pissy Matt - geesh

You started tossing out the battle of the experts deal by saying you know foreign doctors who think our system suscks so I tossed out trump saying that I know doctors from here who fear Obamacare. Wasn't any more to it than that.

In re Obamacare - we're saying we think the bill sucks. If you agree then you agree.

In re spending a lot of money for a loved one's illness... if you are not responsible for your spouse, child, parent then who should be? No one doubts that it sucks to have to go through that horror but some one does have to pay for it. Who is that going to be?

We agree that cost is a problem. We agree that there are things that could be done immediately to help impact cost. We agree that Obamacare isn't it. So, we are apparently in agreement on some very fundamental and important things.

I find zero confidence in the assertion that a gov't option won't largely wipe out private insurance.

I find zero condfidence that if the gov't is providing care that they won't place conditions on that care. You smoke? Too bad you've got lung cancer. You eat too many sweets and have diabetes? Too bad, we'll just amputate... you can have a prosthesis when we get around to it. Etc etc etc... health care is a fundamental personal responsibility and I'd rather not let the gov't be in charge of it.

I find zero comfort in looking to systems in the UK/SA/EU/Canada etc. I do believe that the rationing that hit all of those systems will hit here too. At that point the $223k issue isn't an issue - the gov't will just say - "well, you're gonna die anyway." Teddy Kennedy's own cancer doctor lamented that very issue. The UK has canabalized its system to maintain care. That means little capital investment. That sucks. Our system has plenty of flaws that we can correct but imitating socialized medicine ala that string of other places strikes me as the worst choice. I know you disagree - but oddly - I don't feel the need to feel sorry for you

Oh, missed that last bit... you're taking your ball and going home? Lol... nice. Promise?

Re: Gov. Insurance would allow coverage for Abortion

i dont want you to feel sorry for me and i am done with this site and its healthcare fanatics. i just came from a long meeting with a few physicians and im sorry if i dont feel the need to agree with some bs about long lines outside of our country or how bad the govt plan will be or how we should just buck up and spend our lifes work on a hospital bill that could have been covered through a care plan, etc etc etc.

like i said, think what you want. rose tinted glasses are rockin.

edit: yes i promise. debate with the wall like you normally do.

You don't feel the need to do much except make snide remarks Matt. You know the score here. If you don't want in the discussion don't get in - that's simple. But swooping in to insult people with differing opinions as provincial fools is really annoying.

Re: Gov. Insurance would allow coverage for Abortion

thought you promised to leave? Lol.. you're being an attention whore Matt... haha

check your last two posts... they're kinda snide Matt.

You told me you feel sorry for me (having an opinion that differs from yours? not sure why you didn't exactly make it clear).. you don't think that was snide?

I offered up some real questions about the issue. You responded with, I feel sorry about you and the bs you believe. You don't find that snide?

You don't think your post above is snide? You don't think your wall debating comment was snide?

Like I said, you know DDM. If you don't want in - don't get in.

Haaha whatever dude. Was not in a good mood last night when posting for various reasons. Just dont understand all of the kneejerking. Where was this frenzy when the MMA was signed into law? That bill radically changed healthcare for the worse and definitely lowered the class of care we can expect.

Long run private insurance won't be able to compete on a large scale and a two tiered system could well emerge. (more distinct than the one we have today)
I dont agree with this statement unless you are talking pre-MMA. I am on my way to Little Rock and will give you my reasoning when I can sit down and flesh it out without bonxing someone.

lol @ attentionwhore and being pissy due to someone not agreeing with me coming from the master-debater.

People - stop listening to the media and extremists with loaded opinions.

I was opposed to that too Matt. For the reasons you stated plus others.

By the same token, don't drink the Kool-Aid either.

Healthcare professionals' opinions are important to gauge the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of any healthcare system, but ignoring those on the receiving end of said healthcare means you're only getting half the story. While you may not be intentionally doing so, that seems to be the only pool of opinion that you regard as significant.

Oh, and using public money to pay for the cost of irresponsibility and casual banging doesn't sit well with me. It's just another slap in the face of self-restraint.
