Wow. That would buy a LOT of chalk. But, instead of using that money to buy a whole bunch of other stuff, howz about saying they have TOO MUCH TAX MONEY and lower the taxes because they are now spending on BS. If they have money to throw away, they obviously don't need that much money.

Maybe a little better reporting and a little more advance notice requirement in the bidding process is warranted so the public can get involved BEFORE these kind of expenditures. Yank that tax money out from under them!

I am not too upset about the Dallas ISD Budget shortfall where a "math mistake" caused a crisis. After all, Nasa lost a space craft to the void because someone used metric and someone else used miles, but no conversion was ever made between the two measures. Lancaster, now there is a good look at human errors too. But Fort Worth, that is a classic example of what happens when a district has taxes that are too high. Look at Keller too and the marble floors for another example of this.

i'm not debating on their educational value over dallas. they already won that race. 23million is a lot of money that can go to roads, infrastructure, lower the taxes, cops, firemen, etc.

what's the upkeep on 23million dollars worth of fancy projection screens? how much are new bulbs? what's the life span on these?

fuck... they could eventually have such a budget shortfall, that they can't upkeep them and they go back to chalk! wtf?

these things are very expensive and there is a cost to maintain.

American schools spend so much more money than schools in Asia and Europe but consistently fall behind in test scores. The only solution I ever hear out of the liberal left is to spend more money on failing school systems.

So I'm guessing the schools and those in power in the Ft Worth area are more conservative than the Dallas area so it's surprising to me that they would be the ones spending more money while Dallas schools are cutting back on toilet paper cause they're so broke.

There's all this unnecessary technology I keep seeing on NBC or CNN like digital books, digital chalkboards, laptops for all students, etc. that just takes money away from raising educator salaries or picking better management.

In the end, it doesn't require more technology and spending to do a better job of teaching someone how to read and write. We just need a school system who doesn't have their head up their ass and parents who actually care about their kids' education.
