good/bad... we can look at voting results in states that collapsed or that fell undersway of a single party and we usually will see the gradual (sometimes rapid) shift away from centrist parties toward extremist parties. Just a couple of examples... It was quite stark in Russia as events lead up to the revolutions of 1917. We saw odd coalitions coming together in Iran (radical muslims and leftist intellectuals) to oust the Shah etc etc.
